I can’t believe how long it has been since I reviewed a Guerlain lipstick – absolute ages. I have reviewed Gentiane, Girly, Gigolo, Gipsy and Genna for you earlier. Today, I have yet another stunning shade – Geisha! Let us dig in…

A horizontal design with feminine curves that houses a secret: a mirror automatically appears when the compact is opened. The lipstick has a purely elegant, contemporary design and closes magnetically. This exceptional object boasts a comprehensive, premium formula containing a star ingredient: ruby powder, which acts as an optical whitener to bring out the color and shine of the shades. Packaging:
I have discussed the packaging of the product in detail in my review on Gipsy, so I will keep this one short. The packaging of this lipstick is pure luxury – it’s the most easily recognizable design. The white gold shimmer lipstick compact was designed for Guerlain by Lorenz Bäumer, the young and talented jeweler in Place Vendôme. This is most definitely the heaviest lipstick and one of the most expensive. The lipstick compact consists of a twin mirror and ofcourse the lipstick bullet which closes the folded mirror and holds them together with a magnetic closure.
My Experience with Guerlain Rouge Jewel Lipstick Compact 23 Geisha:
Color: The shade is a stunning medium red with distinct warm undertones and golden copper shimmer. Some people find the shade orange tinged. I think it might pull a bit orange based on your complexion. But to me, it doesn’t seem orange tinged at all, it is warm toned and the golden copper sheen may make it feel like that. The coppery sheen gives a gorgeous voluptuous pout to your lips without any actual shimmer particles or grittiness associated with them.
The shade will suit all gals who are comfortable wearing reds, but cool-toned girls may find it a difficult red to carry. I think it will look absolutely stunning on olive skin!
Texture: The texture of Rouge G lipsticks is absolutely stunning! I had forgotten how amazing these were. It is lightweight and creamy with a glossy shine – though not so creamy that would make lines on your lips when they are pursed together. It’s amazing that the lipstick doesn’t move much despite it being so creamy and glossy. The lipstick is extremely smooth and hydrating. The hydration lasts for a couple of hours beyond its wear time. The formula is very comfortable to wear. It does not need a lip liner – there is no feathering or bleeding. The texture is definitely one of the best out there – especially if you like glossy/shine/voluptuous lips.
Pigmentation: It is extremely pigmented – fully opaque in a single swipe. Perfect for someone like me who has pigmented lips. You generally see brands doing pigmented shades for their satin/matte lines, but for their glossy/shine lipsticks, they generally go for sheer finishes, which absolutely bums me out because I love full coverage lipsticks, so end up wearing mattes more often than glossy ones. This one is an aberration. It is so nicely pigmented and still has this glossiness to it!
Lasting Power: This is the other aspect of Guerlain Rouge Gs which is so amazing. Despite being this glossy shiny creamy lipstick, it still gives you decent wear. Geisha can last you the whole day – even through meals! Yes, by the end of the day, the colour may not be as vivid or glossy but it is still there – along with the residual stain. Also, where it fades, it fades extremely evenly and does not get or look patchy!

Cons of Guerlain Rouge Jewel Lipstick Compact 23 Geisha:
- The lipstick compact is heavy – you can’t just throw it in your clutch!
- Difficult to store – they don’t stand.

With all the new makeup getting launched all over the place, it can sometimes make you forget “old but gold”! Guerlain Rouge Gs are such goldies… Amongst all the formulas out their – this is definitely one of the best! Lets just say – it is pure joy to use this – and flaunt them (of course)!!
Yes, the shade may not be unique. However, when you buy this, trust me, you aren’t paying only of the packaging. The quality itself is amazing – and that bit is difficult – if not near impossible, to replicate. What amazes me even more is the fact that this formula is fairly old. So, while newer products have the advantage of newer ingredients and newer technology – most of them can still not match up to this formula!

Yeah – so i tried the inner corner that day. I couldn’t recreate your look coz i was testing these ABH shadows instead but decided to try the coloured inner corner. Did not share the pics with you coz i wasn’t too happy with it. I don’t know whether it was the choice of colour or the fact that it was a coloured inner eye – something did not seem right with it to me. 🙁
