Claims : The queen of exotic Oriental perfumery, this beautifully feminine fragrance is an everlasting classic. Its voluptuous base of powdery, sweet vanilla embraces warm notes of incense and amber. Opulent and tenacious, the seductive appeal of Shalimar endures.
Today, Jade Jagger, the English artist, jewelry designer, and socialite, has reinterpreted the celebrated Shalimar bottle. As she would carve a precious stone, Jagger formed the cap into the shape of a fan, adding a glamorous modern touch to the iconic flacon.
Jagger’s subtle update comes to an unchanged fragrance of timeless beauty. In the 1920s, the tale of a true fairytale romance inspired the fragrance’s creator, Jacques Guerlain. Four centuries ago, in India, Emperor Shah Jahan fell hopelessly in love with Princess Mumtaz Mahal. He had the enchanting Gardens of Shalimar built for her and dedicated the Taj Mahal to her as well, one of the seven new wonders of the world. This incredible tale sparked the imagination of Jacques Guerlain, who created Shalimar, the first oriental fragrance in history, in 1925.

My Experience with Guerlain Shalimar EDP :
I don’t know for how long Mr. Husband has been asking me to try Guerlain’s Shalimar EDP. I finally gave it a go and I totally have fallen in love with it. To start with, this perfume is inspired by the love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. How romantic!!
If I have to put this perfume in adjectives it would be – warm, spicy, evening, strong, classic, royal, precious, sensual, se*y.
This perfume makes me feels s*xy and so good about myself. For evenings, especially it has become my favourite perfume. I am a citrus fragrance person but this definitley an exception.
I absolutely love the vintagey packaging. It’s the kinds you always want to keep on your dressing table. Also, the little bottle with a bow is so easy to carry around.
Since the time I have started using this, I kind of feel incomplete if I don’t wear it in the evenings. It stays on for long and makes its own statement. You have to wait for it settle for a few minutes before you actually start enjoying it. It settles down to slightly powdery and smooth perfume on me. It stays on so long- I mean I can smell it even after 6 hours of wear.
It’s a classic that would stay with me for a very long time. I would keep coming back to it always. 🙂
