I am mad about perfumes (who isn’t?). Recently, I went to Dubai and had planned on buying a perfume; but I didn’t even knew what kind of fragrance I was searching for. When I checked out Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial Eau De Parfum, I knew this was the fragrance I was searching for. Here’s the review of Shalimar Initial EDP.

Product Description:
Inspired by the passionate love story between an emperor and an Indian princess, Shalimar, which means “temple of love” in Sanskrit, symbolizes the promise of eternal love forevermore. It is a fragrance of desire. With its smoldering and slightly impertinent character, the star oriental fragrance in perfumery embodies skin-caressing sensuality with a hint of the forbidden. “Wearing Shalimar means letting your senses take over,” Jacques Guerlain would say.
My Experience with Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial Eau De Parfum:
It comes in a very beautiful glass bottle with Shalimar written on it in blue color. It has a blue cap with Guerlain Paris written on it. The shape of the bottle is what attracted me to it first.
Fragrance:
Top Notes-Bergamot,Orange,Green notes.
Middle Notes-Vetiver,Iris,Jasmine,Patchouli,Rose.
Base Notes-Musk,Tonka Bean,Vanille,Caramel.
At the outset, I can tell you that this perfume is not for girls who likes sweet and floral fragrances. It has a very very strong smell and could give some people headache after some time. Don’t even try to buy it without smelling it first.
Initially when I sprayed it on myself, it made me smell like cigar (yes a cigar!) and who would want to smell like that, but as time passed by, the cigar smell faded away and its real smell was more like vanilla, sweet yet strong, not at all girly, it’s a feminine fragrance. And I couldn’t stop smelling it again and again.
The fragrance is prominent and it is kind of mature. This perfume is like either you fall in love with it totally or would hate it completely – there is no “in between.” It is an old school perfume. It is not an everyday fragrance, but a special occasion thing and trust me, you would definitely smell good yet very sophisticated and would stand out from the crowd with this fragrance.
It has the sharpness of bergamot as you apply and after some time, there is the scent of jasmine, roses, vanilla – totally a mixture of fragrances. Spraying it on, just a little goes a long way. Staying power is very good. I personally started loving it once I got used to it.
