1. Hair rebonding is popularly known as thermal reconditioning and Japanese straightening. It is a chemical hair treatment that makes hair look straight, shiny and sleek.
2. Rebonding involves using a cream or relaxant softener to break the natural hair structure followed by a neutralizer to re-bond the structure again. A flat iron is also used to reset the hair bonds and make the hair straight. The chemicals used are usually a mixture of perming solution with strong chemicals such as ammonium thioglycolate, guanidine hydroxide or sodium hydroxide.
3. This treatment is ideal for very curly hair as it gives the look of poker straight hair.
4. It easily lasts for 6 months up to 1 year and depends on your hair type as well as how well you take care of your hair. If you use the right products and take good care of your hair then you can prolong the effects of rebonding.
5. In India price range of rebonding starts from around 5-6K which increases according to your hair type as well as the length of your hair. This process takes anywhere from 4-8 hours according to the length of your hair.
6. In the long run it is less damaging as you already have poker straight hair so you won’t need to style your hair using any hair tools but you do end up with weaker and limp hair. So use a shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for rebonded hair.
7. The above pro becomes a con as your hair is already chemically treated in the process so any other kind of heat will damage your hair. So, you will be stuck with straightened hair only and any other kind of heat styling will be really damaging for your hair follicles.
