Best Hair Colour For Hair Highlights: Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Neha Trivedi asks:

Hi Girls,

This month I am planning to get my hair highlighted, not entirely, but just a few strands. Can you people suggest which brand is the best one to go for so that my hair gets the minimum of damage? I have slightly wavy, shoulder length, black hair. Suggestion of some colours would also help.

Thanks a ton 🙂

  1. Hi Neha, I think when you go for highlights, you should choose a colour two to three shades lighter than your true hair colour. Light golden highlights look really good. L’Oreal creme ammonia free hair colour and Wella Kolestint are good options 🙂

  2. Hi,

It usually depends on your skin tone. light brown , copper brown , reddish brown look good. Go for well known brands.

  3. Burgundy is my all time fav..thn of-course take a chance wth purple or caramel…they luk gud too and Soft brown ends on black hair too looks gud..as for brands i go with Jomol n Neha

  4. i donno abt highlights…bt i once hd colored my hairs… loreal worked for me really well… plus if u want it to stay for long u cn use loreal elvive color protect shampoo nd conditioner… 🙂 🙂

  5. Neha I’d say let them use any color .. acutally parlours already have a set brand which they use.. the color u choose matters.. well wella, LOreal and Schwarzkopf all are good and yup goo for blonde and light golden if u r are fair and stick with light browns, honey and mahogony if lil dusky 🙂

  8. I think loreal is the safest and as a first timer you might want to go for that. For Indian skintones burgandy and purple work best. Ya i was pretty shocked abt purple too but when i saw it on my friend’s hair i was quite blown away. They can always reduce the insensity if u dont want to go very bold the first time.

Do let us know what u chose finally and if u cud post a pic, even better. :£
