Which Hair Straightener To Buy: Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Sanhita G. Asks:

I have genetically thin hair. But because it is curly, it looks quite voluminous. I long for silky straight hair, but I am scared that my hair won’t be able to tolerate all those horrid chemical treatments. So, I am thinking of investing on a hair straightener. The Philips straighteners don’t have temperature control and has a temperature of 210 C which I feel is quite high for my dry and damaged hair. After a lot of survey, I zeroed on a model from Panasonic, with temperature control of 130-170C. What say ladies, shall I plunge in and buy the same? Please help!!

  1. if u r ready to chip in more amount then u can go fr braun…it has temp control and its coated with titanium. little expensive compared to rest but it wont damage ur hair…

    1. ya, I have seen Braun straighteners but they are way too expensive and I will use the machine may be once in the blue moon!! but thanks for the suggestion anyway. 🙂

  2. I cannot speak about the panasonic brand, but I can speak about straighteners. If you have thin hair and it is shorter than, say, your shoulder-blades, then I would say, go for a straightener! It really gives the hair a shine and looks good for a couple of days. I have long thick hair which is pretty springy, so I sometimes use a straightener to get rid of volume. For myself, after washing, I wait till hair is 80% dry, then use Almond oil, heat protector spray, blow dry, then straighten. The whole process takes about 60-90 minutes, so I go through this VERY rarely, but I do enjoy the end result!

    1. Thanks Aruna for sharing your experience. I loved your almond oil wala idea. even I have dry hair, will use it to control my friziness. 🙂

  3. You can check Remington or Braun models both have temperature setting and LED display and both are trusted brands.

    1. I have checked Braun but they are way beyond my budget!! 🙁 I am yet to check the Remington ones. 🙂

  4. Panasonic is also good.

You can try Instyler Rotating Hot Iron – Say Goodbye to the Flat hair iron and styling brushes & Switch to NEW ROTATING HAIR STYLER that staightens, Curls and polishes your hair Amazingly. Your Hair will be Silky, Smooth, Shinier, bouncier and full of lift and life!.

Benefits as mentioned on site :

Get lift and fullness – right from the root!
Get a sexy flip in seconds. Straighten even the toughest, most coarse hair – and still get fullness and style without the stick-straight “flatness” of a flat iron.

And the best part is, because of the Styler rotating hot iron’s patented design, your hair won’t get smashed and baked by the super-intense heat of a flat iron or other “hot” tools. In fact, the Rotating Styler uses less heat than traditional hot tools, and delivers better results. How? Because the gentle heat in conjunction with the rotating motion of the polishing cylinder literally polishes your hair strands individually so it doesn’t need extreme heat to get amazing results.

    1. I have read the review and then only this straightener ka “kida” bit me!! I love all the products from Philips but then their straightener does not have temperature control and that is what disturbing me!! 🙁

  5. i have PHILIPS Salon SHINE HAIR STRAIGHTENER..hands down..i dont even need to blow dry( fine hairs which are easy to style) …its fine if u turn off the straightner and then try straightening ur front hairs…only back hairs need more temperature…i use this texhnique ..else u can buy temp control wale models…but philips is everyones…fav….

    1. I know Philips is such a reputed brand and the products are very affordable too…It is bound to be everyone’s fav. But only the temperature control issue is bugging me!!
