Hair Style – 8 Fantastic Reasons to Get A Short Hair Cut

Hair Style – 8 Fantastic Reasons to Get A Short Hair Cut

I chopped my hair off this birthday and it feels great!!! I first got the idea from my friend who thought short hair would be a good look for me. Surprisingly, I didnโ€™t say no right away for I have been trying to grow my hair forever. The thing I found out was that everyone has a certain length that with your hair just doesnโ€™t seem want to grow past. I was at that length and it was that time where I needed a new look! What better opportunity than welcome the new age with new look out?
Fantastic Short Hair Cut
Many of us cling to the familiarity of our long hair, afraid to make a change. I myself know so many girls that have so shiny hair, and would rather die than to take of an inch of it, a part of looking like that girl from the Ring movie, it gives me the impression that they hold on to their locks, afraid of not having any other good features to save them (what is sometimes true :P) But, a short hair cut can be so chic and stylish, plus adopting a new style is a great way to break out of a hair rut.
Far from to try and convert those girls into cutting their so out of this world hair, I just believed that if you can take the risk of doing this, it indeed says a lot about ones personality.

Why hide your face behind a mop of hair when you can show it off with a sassy short hair cut? Here are some great reasons to take the plunge and adopt a short hairstyle:

1. Nothing could be easier to take care of!!

Haircut

Imagine being able to jump out of bed, shake your head a bit and your hair looks fantastic! With the right short hair cut you can do that. Think of all the time and hassle you’ll save. Plus, on mornings when you do wash your hair, it’ll dry quickly, meaning you’ll spend less time dealing with your hairdryer. With short hair, you have the option of towel drying your hair, fluffing it with your fingers, and allowing it to air dry. Why waste the day trying to dry your hair?

2. You’ll show off a pretty face!

haircut
If you have an interesting face, short hair will frame it beautifully so people will see YOU, not your hair. The right short hair cut can do a lot to enhance your best features and play down the ones you’re not so happy with. It all lies in getting the right hair cut.

3. It looks professional.

Otherwise why so many men would prefer it? ๐Ÿ˜› Jokes apart, in my opinion a person with short hair on a job won’t be perceived as the type of person who spends hours in front of a mirror styling hair before coming to work.

4. It has more impact!

haircut
Short hair can be bold, sexy, chic and ultra feminine. There’s something about a woman in a short hair cut that suggests confidence and flair. She doesn’t hide behind a mop of long hair but shows her face to the world. That’s sexy! (and I may not be all that, but look at those actresses :D)

5. It can make you look younger!

haircut
Long hair tends to drag down an aging face, making it look tired and sallow. A short hair cut with some lift and body may be all you need to look like you’ve had a face lift!

6. It’s great for keeping you in the gym!

When I first straightened my hair, the hairdresser said: no water, no sweat, no steam, no rain, not tying, not putting hair behind the ears, not clipping for 3 days. So I skipped the gym for 3 days, and from then my hairs are now chopped and all straightened gone and I still never went back to the gym ๐Ÿ˜€ . And I though exercise was hard enough without having to worry about hair.

7. It’s versatile!

You can do so many things with a short hair cut! It can be blown ultra straight and sleek, pin curled for a sassy look, spiffed up with a curling iron, and enhanced with dozens of hair accessories. You can try a different look every day!
Love hair bands and all the fashion junk from the shop Ayesha (Ayesha Kapoor, that little girl I canโ€™t remember from which movie, but her dad owns Hidesign, and I like him cause he makes great bags and married a foreigner :P)

8. It’s a great way to redefine Yourself!

Have you recently lost weight or made a major change in your life? One of the first things women do when they’ve made a major life change is to get a haircut. A short hair cut lets the world know you’re a new person in no uncertain terms. You no longer need to cling to the crutch of having long hair(long hair here being a metaphor, donโ€™t worry I like long hair :P). Itโ€™s time to show the world who you’ve become!

I hope I’ve convinced you that there are good reasons to get a short hair cut. If you’re going to do it, make sure you find a hairdresser who can help you select the right short hair cut for your face and personality. A well thought out hair cut can make all the difference in how you feel about your hair.

After I had cut my hair and went to work, one of these โ€˜perfect Kareena Kapoorโ€™s hair style gal, came to me almost in tears to ask me what on earth had I done to my beautiful long hair?
I said, “Iโ€™ve cut it.”
The girl openly weeping as if that had happened to her hair said, “I love my hair so much I would kill myself if I got hair this short. “(seriously, she was about to do that only looking at my crop :D)
I tried to put some sense on her head and commented, ”ย  To cut hair, more than style you need guts beti and that I have.”
Still amazed at me not crying regretting the crap I had just paid for she told, “Well, not guts, itโ€™s just being proud of something beautiful you have.”
I wasnโ€™t in a mood for baakwas so I said, ” I understand you completely darling, if you cut this beauty, what else is left?”

The same look is boring. Thereโ€™s nothing more awkward than running into someone you havenโ€™t seen in ten years and discovering they look the exact same.

Itโ€™s a weight of your shoulders. Itโ€™s amazing how heavy hair actually is โ€“ especially when itโ€™s balled up in a messy bun like mine usually was some days!

Your wardrobe will feel renewed. โ€œIs that new?โ€ No, itโ€™s just my fabulous new hair. ;P

Lift your spirits. Itโ€™s because you want! And itโ€™s your hair not theirs.

A trim is just a trim. But a real good haircut will get rid of more than just split ends. Sometimes your hair just needs a good chop to feel healthy and look shiny again. If youโ€™re a fan of the flat iron, you know what I mean.

If all else failsโ€ฆand you end up hating it, donโ€™t worry. Thatโ€™s the thing about hair; it grows back again.

Thatโ€™s right ๐Ÿ˜›

haircut

And Happy b’day to me ๐Ÿ˜€

Ps: sorry for the bad skin and no makeup on almost all the photos ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Oh Bhumika i do have alllllllll that dont worry ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€

The thing is that my acne problem was really severe on my teens, and i didnt have any shot of those times when i am not shoved between friends and you can hardly see my face ๐Ÿ˜€

I am 27 now and from oily prone to acne my skin became combination – prone to blackheads…as i am left with huge pores to take care of ๐Ÿ˜€ but the solution is to learn how to manage

  1. Very happy birthday to you. Loved all d pics. Looking beautiful n different with different hairstyles.
I’m bored to death with my step cut. But whenever i go for a haircut thinking will try smthng different, the beautician never ventures from step cut & i end up again with step cut. Had short hair till school after that medium / shoulder length hair.

    1. Nimi, you can try a different salon…just do not cut it right away…go talk to the hairdresser and ask if would suit you some other hair style and ask for the styles list and just leave if you dont find it helpfull, there is no rush whatsoever when it comes to hair i guess…always make an informed decision so its harder for you to regret it later ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Reason no. 9 – A great way to beat the heat !!
Really good article, but i do understand why most girls are wary of cutting their hair short, because i’m one of them :-p , and my mom keeps INSISTING , i have SUCH lovely hair ‘why would anyone in there right mind cut such long hair’ , lol, but yes short hair looks cuter on many women.

    1. Smitha, completely agree with reason number 9 ๐Ÿ˜€ thanks

I have lots of single friends here in my office that are growing they hair till the wedding day so they can look good with great hair hindustani sankrit style ๐Ÿ˜€ and look like lovely brides…but as that is done they are chopping it off :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

You mom is right as well, if you have lovely healthy long hair, why anyone on earth would cut it?? but again…you live only once and hair grows back

I am always trying not to hold on to things, and be the less materialist possible…i still have a lot to learn, and hair isnt that important…its just hair, you shave your wax it everywhere else then why on your head its sacred????

but some people just idolatre their hair, like the girl i mentioned in my article…its like a loved one for her..she would cry if cut the hair but would cry if a relative died i guess       ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

and Happy birthday to you! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    haha
    even i had long hair
and i chopped it out almost above my neck ๐Ÿ™‚
i had to do it because i had done rebonding and i was so bored of it that i wanted my curly hair to grow back ๐Ÿ˜€
now my hair’s below my neck and back to my natural state-curly
i am waiting for it grow…i want it to be super long :-)) haha
Whenever i go to the stylist i tell her not to cut the length and just do whatever she wants to ๐Ÿ˜›
I have to play safe now , as my hair’s short ! ๐Ÿ˜€
You look gorgeous in those pictures!

    1. 4. Hey Deb,

Great Article.. Nice Haircut. Mmm… well i also want a short haircut but i have super wavy hair .. aww,.. my mom will chop my head off if i cut it anymore ๐Ÿ™ Post some more pics of ur haircut. we would love to see it ๐Ÿ™‚

    Happy Birthday.. Have fun..

  5. Happy Bday Deb, nice post.. I love short hair too, and have had short hair all of my growing years. I did grow it in my 20s and again cut it boy-short in my mid twenties. The longest I grew my hair was when I was pregnant, thats the best time coz with all the hormones, there is absolutely no hairfall and it was so thick (almost to my waist) :D, but once baby was out could’nt manage both and so cut it short again (hubby was heartbroken).. the problem with most Indian men is they like their women with long hair, they believe its part of their feminity I guess. ๐Ÿ™‚ and so we poor indian women think 100 times before even a trim. But ya I love short hair

    1. Oh Renuca i also believe that long hair is just stunning, but i think its so unfair for us to keep femininity associated only to that style of hair :-(( :-(( :-((

In my opinion a good example as far as hair length is concerned to see Marilyn Monroe always kept her hair neck length or shorter and curly, and is till today seen as an epitome of womanly sensuality against Alanis Morrisette that had hair till her knees and i always found very plain ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

I just believe that one should own the hair and not let the hair own them

  6. wow happy birthday !!! you look gorgeous in all the photos & also with the haircut :-))
I recently cut my hair short but the stupid hairdresser ruined it ๐Ÿ™ so i really can’t wait for my hair to grow back.
I was thinking of cutting my hair this short because whenever i get out i sweat so much that my hair also becomes sweaty & oily kinds !! but then i realized it really won’t suit my face as i have super curly hair & really don’t want to rebond them again.
.-= Insiya´s last blog ..Love for Miu Miu โ™ฅ EOTD =-.

    1. Thanks a lot Insya, i had my hair cut in a Lakme salon here in Bangalore. I truly enjoyed the experience, the hairdresser was very helpful and educated regarding, hair texture and face shape and bla bla…it cost me around rs 500 with hair wash/cut/blow dry/iron on the hair cut day what i thought was a good service…

My normal hair is really curly as you can in that pic i am sleeping i guess…my hair with that length straightened almost reached my shoulders…with this hair cut i am currently not bothering to iron my fringe everyday i am able to manage :cute: :cute: :cute: :cute: :cute:

    1. Hi Veena, i completely understand and great your future mom in law is backing u up…we girls gotta stick together right??? ๐Ÿ˜›

In my phera and in the wedding reception, as most of north indian cerimonies are, i covered my head so hair was the least of my troubles ๐Ÿ˜€

What i regret was doing my own make up ๐Ÿ˜€ and if you have any idea i hadnt ever ever even tried to put blush on

So i did my make up but glad my hair was covered :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  9. CALI :
๐Ÿ˜€ Think a lot before you short.
    Because once it’s cut ..
then it takes time to grow back. ๐Ÿ™‚

    DEB : ๐Ÿ˜€ Lakme is good .
I think you should keep your hair curly ๐Ÿ˜‰
    I go to haakim aalim’s salon .
They have good stylists there too.
She charges 900 bucks and does a good job ๐Ÿ˜€

Cali-if there’s a hakim aalim salon in banglore you sshould check it out ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. Hi Deb, nice article. I had long hair only when in my teens and ever since I cut it way back then, it hasn’t grown beyond a certain length. I love to have bangs or side-fringes on both sides, covers my broad forehead. Love short hair and highlights!

  14. Hi Deb
