Hakuhodo Face Makeup Brushes Review : K002 Powder Brush round and flat, G5521BkSL Highlight Brush pointed, J103 Powder/Blush/Contour Brush Tapered, J210 Blush Brush round, G5555-2mm Powder & Liquid Brush round/angled
Hi Everyone, 🙂
Good makeup brushes are my weakness. I personally feel that if you have the right makeup tools, you can never go wrong with your makeup. I am always on the lookout for quality makeup brushes. When I heard about Hakuhodo, I couldn’t resist myself. I HAD to give these a try. I have been using Hakuhodo makeup brushes for almost a month now. I’d be doing a couple of posts on these brushes. This is the first one from the series. .
To tell you a little about the brand : ” Hakuhodo is one of the leading makeup brush manufacturers in Kumano, producing 500,000 brushes monthly. It also has been producing and providing high quality makeup brushes for many leading cosmetic companies and makeup artist brands worldwide as an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) supplier. ”
You may purchase Hakuhodo brushes from their website HERE. My brushes reached me in perfect condition within a week of ordering. 🙂
Hakuhodo H2156 Powder Brush Round Flat / K002 Powder Brush
Features : Suitable for dry, sensitive skin. Bristles made from blue squirrel have little spring but are ultra soft, coverage will be natural and sheer. Less durable, so use the surface of the bristles gently with the handle held flat. Although it works well for lucent powder, it is not suitable for liquid or oil based products.
Price : Rs 5,091 approx / $82
Review : This is THE most amazing powder brush I have ever used. Have you ever felt a peacock feather against your skin? That’s how this brush feels. It picks up just the right amount of powder and the bristles moves on your skin without disturbing the liquid base underneath. You can use it for pressed powders and loose powders both. It is not dense so the lightness of the bristles dust the powder gently on your skin. It distributes the powder evenly on skin without leaving any trace of cakiness on your skin. The bristles are tapered at the end and the brush in general has a flat shape. I find that it gives more control on application as compared to the round conventional powder brush. Also, the size of the brush is neither too big nor too small – gives enough control yet is big enough that is required of a powder brush.
I have washed it twice and the bristles have retained their shape. There has been no shedding as well.

Hakuhodo H2896 Highlight Brush Pointed / G5521BkSL Highlight Brush pointed
Features : Pointed tip carefully designed and offering good control. The bristles are a mix of blue squirrel and goat and you can easily achieve your desired finish. Also can be used as a highlighter brush.
Price : Rs 2,111 / $34
Review : This is one brilliant contour and highlight brush. It is superrr soft brush but not as airy and light as the powder brush. The brush is slightly dense and the bristles have a bit of resistance. The resistance helps with picking up the product and application. While the softness of the brush makes it suitable to blend the product seamlessly. Sometimes contour brushes are so stiff that although they are great for precise application, they fail to blend the product. In that case you have to use another blending brush. This brush is a best of both worlds and it can’t be more perfect than already is. 🙂 I use it for contouring my cheeks and nose. It is excellent for applying the highlighter as well. Because of it’s small size it makes the highlighting application super precise. This also I have washed twice. The brush didn’t bleed and shed. The bristles have totally retained their shape.

Hakuhodo H3841 Powder Blush Contour Brush Tapered / J103 Powder/Blush/Contour Brush Tapered
Features : Thanks to the pointed shape of the densely packed bristles, this brush will help you create dramatic color on your cheeks. Perfect for those who prefer a stronger, less sheer look. Also can be used as a highlight brush.
Price : $84 / Rs 5,215
Review : An amazing dome shaped dense bristled brush. It picks the blush color beautifully from the pan. The tapered shape of the bristles give a precise application. You can use the pointy end to apply the product and flatten the brush to blend away the color. This brush does not have any issues quality wise but I find it quite a longish brush for a blush brush. For me personally, I still like a the old school rounded blush brushes. I find them easier to use and I feel the wider blush brushes give more natural application of blush. But as mentioned in the ‘features’ if you like a very precise application of your blush, this could be a good pick.

Hakuhodo H3867 Blush / J210 Blush Brush round Brush
Features : Our must-have blusher brush! This roundish brush head provides a smoother and more even application of makeup. It creates great color and holds powder well, helping you achieve your desired finish.
Review : I agree to what has been mentioned in ‘features’. It IS a must have blush brush. The brush has a rounded top which makes it great for applying liquid / cream foundation, blush, bronzer, and highlighter. It is a medium thick round brush so it gives a huge control over application. It is fluffy enough to blend the product seamlessly and thick enough to pick enough product. This is the brush that I use the most. The brush is very soft on skin. If you are using it for applying a liquid or cream product it blends the product seamlessly without leaving any streaks on the skin. It does not shed bristles while applying cream or liquid products on skin. Totally love this one! 🙂

Features : Quick and easy makeup application to achieve a flawless finish. Carefully arranged bristles create an angled brush surface and synthetic fibers extend slightly further than the goat hair. This specification means that the bristles have more spring and it enables them to pick up just the right amount of product. This helps create a smooth finish to your makeup, while also helping it last even longer. The brush works perfectly with any type of foundation – liquid, cream and even powder.
Price : $54 / Rs 3352 INR
Review : I have a couple of buffing brushes in my kit but this is quite an epic one! Let’s start with the shape first. It is a fat angled flat top brush. The beautiful angled shape helps get to the every corner of the face especially around the sides of the nose. The flat shape makes it a great stippling brush and you can achieve that air brushed look with this brush. With this brush you can NEVER ever have a cakey application. The flat dense top pricks up the product just right and the lightness of the bristles spreads the product evenly on skin. This way you can build up your product and know when to stop. I like it mainly for the cream and liquid products. Not for the powder products. But if you are using just the concealer to conceal scars or marks and you want to set the product, you can pick powder with this brush and pat it on the specific areas of your face. The brush feels soft and dense against the skin. You can use it either in stippling motion or in little round circular motion, it works just great. You can feel the bristles against your skin but the bristles are quite soft. Even after 3 washes the bristles feel just the same.
