Liquid lip colors are currently the trend and we have seen a lot of drugstore brands jump on to this bandwagon. Hard Candy too launched its own version recently and calls it the “Velvet Mousse Matte Lip Color.” The packaging is oh-so-cute and the pricing couldn’t have been better. Hence, I went a bit overboard and picked up all the 7 shades from this range. Today, I am reviewing my favorite from this range – “Cherry Blossom.” So, read on to find out more about this product.

Product Description:

My Experience with Hard Candy Cherry Blossom Velvet Mousse Matte Lip Color:
Packaging: This lip color comes in a very cute tin packaging which also has a full-sized mirror inside it. The lipstick itself is placed on a little velvet bed inside the tin. Each of the shades comes housed in a tin with a different colorful design. The actual lipstick comes in a flat oval-shaped tube with a silver cap. The applicator is a standard doe-shaped sponge. It picks up a good amount of the product and applies the gloss easily and precisely.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the packaging and I am amazed that Hard Candy is giving us such a pretty presentation for just 6 dollars.
Shade/Pigmentation: “Cherry Blossom” is a lovely berry pink shade. It is not too bright and adds the perfect amount of color to the face. It is a shade which will appeal to both red as well as pink lovers and will suit most skin tones. The lipstick is strongly pigmented and one swipe is enough to cover the lips.
Texture/Finish: The texture is like any other liquid lipstick. It is sufficiently creamy and applies smoothly. It feels like velvet and there is no tug at all as you apply the lipstick. You don’t need to wear a lip balm underneath.
I was expecting the finish to be a slightly wet one like the recently launched liquid lipsticks from Revlon, L’Oréal and Maybelline. However, I must say that this one is much more matte compared to all those lipsticks. It does not dry down immediately and takes a while to set (around 1 hour or so). Once set, it looks matte with a slight sheen.
It does not feel drying on the lips and is quite lightweight and comfortable to wear. This particular shade does not feather or settle into lip lines.
The lipstick has a nice vanilla scent which I personally like. It does not stay for too long though.
Lasting Power: This lipstick does transfer initially when it is not yet set, but once set, it is fairly budge proof and does not transfer. Of course, it does wear off from the inside of the mouth if you eat something too greasy. But overall, it pretty much lasts through meals and drinks. It easily lasts 7-8 hours on me. You need a makeup remover to remove all traces.
Overall, I would say this particular shade from this range is a sure-shot winner.

I will recommend this particular shade for sure as it is a good quality lipstick at a very affordable price. I will not repurchase the exact same shade, but I have all the other shades from this range.
