Hard Candy Plumping Serum Gel Stick – Desired Review

By Priya Sinha

Hey!
Hard Candy has launched a lot of new products in their makeup line. Some products are totally new and some are an extension of their current line. The lipstick that I am going to talk about today is the Hard Candy Plumping Serum Gel Stick in Desired. This lipstick is a new addition to the existing line of lipsticks. Since I did not have the opportunity of trying any Hard Candy makeup before, all products are new to me. Enough of loose talks, let’s get straight to the review ladies.

My Experience with Hard Candy Plumping Serum Gel Stick – Desired:

Since I have a warm complexion with yellow undertones, I find it really hard to pull off pink coloured lipsticks. I don’t even have enough pink lipsticks in my lipstick collection. If you have a glance at my makeup collection, you will notice that the lipstick department is dominated by orangey corals and plumy reds. I don’t even have a lot of neutral nude lippies. But there are no rules in makeup right? We all keep experimenting with different shades and formulations and hence I decided to break the monotony and try out a pink lipstick which I think suits me comparatively better than others.

packaging

Packaging: It comes in a regular twist up lipstick tube which is made of metal and is silver in colour with some beautiful detailing in black. The top of the cap is color-coded with the lipstick in the tube which makes searching this lipstick in the stash so much easier. The shade name is mentioned at the very bottom of the lipstick and the shade number is on the top of the lipstick cap. The packaging is pretty and really adorable but again, the cap does not close with a satisfying and loud “click” sound. I hate that, but I’ll get over it, I promise!

SHADE NAME

Colour: The colour is a gorgeous bright pink shade which I’ve started to like. It is a great shade for ladies with fair to medium complexion and will brighten up the face. It is a perfect shade to be paired with a smokey eye look or even as an everyday wear for work or college. All in all, it’s a great colour for pink lip lovers (which I guess most women are!).

lipstick

Texture: The texture of this lippie is super soft and very creamy. It literally glides on the lips like butter. Frankly speaking, I am not a big fan of lipsticks that have a supercreamy texture as they start gliding and feathering. Since this lippie is so creamy, it also feels quite moisturizing on the lips and does not dry them out. That’s a good thing though.

bullet

Pigmentation: I would say the pigmentation of this lipstick is average. It gives a considerable coverage in one swipe and builds to a solid colour with a couple of swipes. I personally have no complaint with the pigmentation.

Longevity: Here’s the sad part! The longevity of this lippie is not what I would like it to be. It does stay on the lips for 2 to 3 hours without eating and drinking, but then it has to be reapplied for maintaining the glossiness and opaque colour on the lips. I think the low staying power is due to the creamy texture of the lipstick. Though it’s not a major con or deal breaker for me, I still find this feature a little dissatisfying. I have to top this lipstick off with a translucent powder every time I wear it to increase the longevity and to prevent it from feathering.

Quality: The overall quality of this product is a little above average considering the pigmentation, packaging and price. I agree that the lasting power is not amazing, but that’s not a big deal as long as I top it with translucent powder. The only issue that I really have with the formulation is the extremely creamy texture. But overall, I quite like it.

Will I Recommend/Repurchase Hard Candy Plumping Serum Gel Stick – Desired?
Well, I would say if you really like extremely creamy lipstick formulations or have no issues with setting your lipstick with powder, then go ahead and purchase it. Also, this shade will suit most Indian skin tones. But personally, I will stick to the Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipstick as it has become my most loved and my most reached for lipstick.
