Hard Candy Provocative Fierce Effects Lipstick Review

Hard Candy is known to produce some interesting cosmetic products at a very affordable price range. They had launched the Fierce Effects Lipstick range last year and I must say this range has some really bold and fierce-looking shades. I did pick up a few shades and today I am reviewing the shade “Provocative” for you. So, read on to find out more.

Product Description:
Turn heads with Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipstick. Daring and highly pigmented with an ultra-soft weightless texture, the formula is infused with argan oil for added moisture and shine. It glides on lips with one stroke in an unstoppable shade range.

My Experience with Hard Candy Provocative Fierce Effects Lipstick:

Packaging: The lipstick comes in a black packaging with the cap embellished with some studded rhinestones. There is a color band at the top which matches the color of the actual lipstick.

I like that the outer packaging does not feel flimsy or cheap. It is pretty sturdy and travel friendly. However, the same cannot be said once the lipstick is opened. For some reason, the actual lipstick bullet just seems very poorly made. It has some visible ridges on it and doesn’t give the impression of a good quality lipstick.

Shade/Pigmentation:  “Provocative” is a bright vibrant magenta with some visible shimmer particles. While I do like the underlying base shade of pink, I must say that the combination of such a bright pink and shimmer makes it slightly garish. It is surely not a shade which will appeal to all.  The pigmentation of the lipstick is decent and it covers the lips in a single swipe. There is no clumping observed if you layer the lipstick.

Texture, Finish, Lasting Power:  The texture of this lipstick is creamy; however, you do experience a little bit of grittiness during application due to the presence of the shimmer particles.  The lipstick feels moisturizing on the lips which can be attributed to the presence of argan oil in the ingredients. It feels quite comfortable and lightweight on the lips.

The finish of the lipstick is a frosty shiny one. The presence of the silver shimmer gives a slightly metallic finish to the lipstick. This kind of a finish is not my personal favorite. The staying power of the lipstick is average, it transfers a lot and stays for around 4 hrs depending upon what I am snacking. It does not survive a full meal and fades away completely.

• Moisturizing lipstick due to presence of argan oil.
• Decent pigmentation.
• Very affordable.

Cons of Hard Candy Provocative Fierce Effects Lipstick:

• Garish shade of pink.
• Visible shimmer particles give a frosty finish.
• Slightly gritty application.
• Average staying power.
• Poorly made lipstick bullet.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Hard Candy Provocative Fierce Effects Lipstick?
No, I will not recommend this particular shade as it ends up looking garish.  I would not repurchase the same shade but do possess other shades from the range.
