Hello gorgeous ladies,
After having good luck with so many Hard Candy makeup products in the past, here comes a dud!! I tried the “Metallic Black” version of this same line of eyeliner and I was quite impressed, but this Hard Candy Stay In Line 12 Hr Mechanical Gel Eyeliner in “Blackest Black” is just not good. Before I rant too much about this liner, let’s get into the details of this product.

My Experience with Hard Candy Stay in Line Blackest Black 12 Hr Mechanical Gel Eyeliner:
Packaging: This eye pencil comes in a convenient mechanical twist-up packaging. The sleek and slim look of this pencil is easy to use and travel friendly. It also comes with an outer packaging that has all the details of the product mentioned on it. The body of the eye pencil is color coded to the shade of the eyeliner. There is no sharpening involved, so no product wastage! All in all, the packaging is simple and practical.
Texture: This liner has a comparatively hard texture that does not glide smoothly along the lash-line or waterline. This is just not creamy enough for a texture of an eyeliner. When applying on the lower lash line (not lower waterline), it does tug a lot and no matter how much effort and patience I put into building the colour, it just does not show up.
Color and Pigmentation: The pigmentation is not a dense super color payoff, but it can be built to a good intensity, but only on the hand. On the eyes, it does not show up as much is expected out of a creamy eyeliner. Even after rubbing this along the lower waterline several times, this does not show up!! In the EOTD, I have swiped this at least 12-15 times and then when my eye stated to hurt, I gave up.
Longevity: According to Hard Candy, this liner wears for up to 12 hours straight! But this one does even show up on the eyes, let alone standing by its claim! Whatever little color pay-off is achieved, stays on the lash-line for 1-2 hours and fades after that.
Pros of Hard Candy Stay in Line Blackest Black 12 Hr Mechanical Gel Eyeliner:
- Simple retractable packaging.
- Affordable.
- Easily available in drugstores and online.
Cons of Hard Candy Stay in Line Blackest Black 12 Hr Mechanical Gel Eyeliner:
- Not the “blackest black” as the brand claims.
- Does not glide easily.
- Very less pigmentation.
- Hard texture.
- Not safe for rubbing on the eye 30 thousand times to get some color pay-off!!
- Terrible staying power.
- Not as creamy as I would like.
- Tugs on the eyes like crazy.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Hard Candy Stay in Line Blackest Black 12 Hr Mechanical Gel Eyeliner?
I haven’t come across such a dud in my life so far!! Even the products that I don’t find up to the mark, can be used for something else at least! But this dud straight went into the dust bin because I have no place for a terribly performing product in my vanity! Steer clear from this product ladies, don’t get it even if you get it for free!
