Head and Shoulders Sensitive Aloe Vera Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Review

By Deepika SV

Hello Beautiful Ladies,

We often love to flaunt our beautiful hair, but we do have those “problems” that restrict us from doing so. Dandruff is one amongst them! I still remember during my teenage years, I had this nightmare and I tried a great number of things, from homemade to chemical treatments to get rid of dandruff, but somehow, it kept coming back!  One of my friends suggested that H&S shampoos are good and on trying, even though it didn’t give me immediate results, I felt it comparatively reduced the problem within 3 months of regular use.  Later, one of my hairstylists told me that H&S shampoos are very strong and she recommended on using some mild shampoo. From then, I discontinued using H&S shampoo. Around 2 months ago, I started having dandruff again and I had to get rid of it as soon as possible and then I found this aloe vera variant and picked up this one. So, here is my review:

Head and Shoulders Sensitive Aloe Vera Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Price:

I picked this one at the drugstore for 2.99 Euros for 300 ml.

My Experience with Head and Shoulders Sensitive Aloe Vera Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:

I have dry scalp and oily hair, and shampooing every other day is a must for me or else my hair gets very limp and thin. As this one is mild enough, it’s good for frequent use.  Like most of the H&S shampoos, this one too comes in a creamy white texture and the fragrance is kind of a milky odor and is something that I do not like.

I have been using this for more than a month now, and it is mild and reduces itchiness on the scalp as it claims. Aloe vera present is an added benefit. There is visible reduction in dandruff within 2-3 times of use. I also noticed that the hair becomes a little soft without using a conditioner. It lathers less compared to the other variants and you have to make sure that you do not use a lot of product. Even though it doesn’t claim anything for hair fall, I noticed the strands in my comb were getting lesser and lesser.

But along with the goodness, there would be a flaw! Well, this product is not great if you have oiled your hair. It doesn’t remove the oil completely and you need a lot of product to get the oil removed and doing so, it weighs down your hair making hair look limp and thin!

I have wavy hair texture, I love it! 🙂 but using this product, made my hair ends straight and my hair looks weird the day I shampoo.  As it has a milky odor, I have preserved this only for my dandruff days and I use another shampoo for the normal days. I use this instead of a shaving cream as it has aloe vera and I noticed that there is no itchiness after shaving without a cream, so this has a dual role of a shampoo and a shaving cream.

So summing up:

Pros of Head and Shoulders Sensitive Aloe Vera Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:

  • Meets the claims the company states.
  • Visible reduction of dandruff within 2-3 uses.
  • With aloe vera, it makes hair more soft without a conditioner.
  • The tangles are reduced after use and hair is more manageable.
  • Though it doesn’t claim, my hair fall has reduced.
  • Reduces itchiness in the scalp.
  • A mild and a sensitive shampoo, can be used every day.
  • Does not make hair look lifeless and dry.
  • Adds a light shine to the hair on the day of shampooing.
  • Can also be used as a shaving cream.

Cons of Head and Shoulders Sensitive Aloe Vera Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:

  • It does not lather well and thus more product is needed if you have oiled your hair resulting in limp hair.
  • It has a milky odour, not pleasant for many.
  • It made my hair strands straight at the end, making the hair look weird.
  • Contains SLS.
  • It is not easily available.

Would I Repurchase Head and Shoulders Sensitive Aloe Vera Anti-Dandruff Shampoo?

No, I would try another variant of H&S.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5(0.5 for the smell+1 for the lack of removing oil from hair).
