I buy Holika Holika products because most of their skincare products perform satisfactorily. Among all the products that I have tried, I love their toners and lip balms the most. I find gel cleansers most efficient at cleansing dirt and makeup and foam cleansers are efficient at gentle cleansing of skin, especially for cleansing skin on makeup-free days. The cleanser in this post is gentle on skin and works well but is not worth repurchasing.

My Experience with Holika Holika Daily Fresh Bamboo Cleansing Foam:
The product comes in a 150 ml tube packaging, it can stand upright in my bathroom skincare cabinet. The tube has a flip cap to dispense product when the tube is squeezed. The product is dispensed in foam form which lathers up when mixed with water.
Most Korean products don’t have description or product details on the tube or on the website, but for this product, I could find its detailed information on Holika Holika’s European website. The ingredient list is also available in detail. The product claims to contain bamboo extract, which is rich in polysaccharides, mineral salts, amino and organic acids. Extract of bamboo, apparently has antioxidant and P-vitamin activity, strengthens the walls of blood vessels, increases elasticity, blood supply of tissues, has anti-edematous action. Maintains normal pH and optimal moisture of the skin. In addition, this component prevents the process of sebum secretion and mattifies the skin, makes it more elastic. Hence, as per the product description, Bamboo is a potent skin care ingredient.
I use this face wash as a second-step cleanser and use it after oil cleansing. I have had the same experience with all foam cleansers. I do like this cleanser but I do not recommend it to those who use face wash to remove their makeup instead of using a good makeup remover. It cleans a makeup-free face well, but does not remove makeup well or leave face squeaky clean as I desire from a face wash. I have experience same issue with all foam type face cleanser – they do not give a clean feeling to face after cleansing.
The foam has a faint green tinge to it and appears and smells just like Palmolive shaving cream. It does not remove face makeup and can only be used on a makeup-free face, also does not impart a fresh, clean feeling to the face. I didn’t find anything unique about this product and will not repurchase it.
Pros of Holika Holika Daily Fresh Bamboo Cleansing Foam:
- An affordable face wash, which comes in a decent 150 ml size tube.
- Does not cause acne or any other skin issue.
- Does not make skin excessively dry or flaky.
- The packaging is easy to store (can be kept upright in the cabinet) and is travel friendly, leak proof.
- The product has a subtle fragrance.
- It contains Bamboo extract and contains saponins, flavonglycosides.
- Claims to have anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and cleansing effect and improves the texture of the skin.
- Removes dirt and cleans pores (for a makeup-free face or an oil cleansed face).
- A small quantity of this product is enough to create generous amount of lather and clean face and neck – it’s lathering capacity is similar to shaving cream.
Cons of Holika Holika Daily Fresh Bamboo Cleansing Foam:
- Smells and appears just like Palmolive shaving cream, not an appealing feature.
- Not good for removing makeup, can be used only after a cleansing oil to remove makeup.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Holika Holika Daily Fresh Bamboo Cleansing Foam?
It is an affordable face wash which performs well but can be used only as a second step cleansing method. It does not smell that appealing and is not worth a repurchase.
