Home Facial Routine for Oily and Dull Skin

I have stopped visiting parlours for facials altogether and there are two reasons behind that. Firstly, I hate wasting time at parlors, closing eyes and listening to all the gossips going on around. I prefer doing things at my home, according to my convenience and time. Also I have trust issues, when my skin is concerned. I can opt for a high-end facial and close my eyes. And then, I won’t know what all is going on my skin. So, I prefer buying the products that I want and use them for facials at home. They are equally good and you and your skin will actually see the difference. I will be sharing my facial steps today so that you can try them at home too. All products have great ratings in IMBB and you won’t regret buying them ever.

1. Cleansing:

The first step for any facial is always cleansing. If I do it on a holiday, when I do not have much of oil, dirt or makeup on my face, I skip oil-based remover. Otherwise, I use an oil based cleanser first, wash it off with water, wipe the face with a cleansing wipe and then use the cleanser. I prefer a gel-based cleanser. I massage it all over the face (wet your face first) and after 8-10 minutes of massaging, I wipe it off with a towel.
My Pick: O3+ Age Lock Clarifying Treatments Facial Cleansing Gel. It leaves my skin clean, soft, hydrated and bright.

2. Exfoliator

I prefer a mild yet effective exfoliator. I massage it gently all over the face and make it to scrub the sides of my nose and other areas where I get clogged pores. I scrub my face for 5-7 minutes. Then, I wash off the face to remove the product completely. I steam the face to open up the pores after that and use a blackhead removing tool to remove the blackheads.
My Pick: Kama Ayurveda Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub. This is the best scrub I have ever used. It is so gentle yet so effective. It removes all dead cells and reveals the soft layer of skin. It also removes tan. Even when my skin gets really sensitive, this does not feel harsh.

3. Toning

This step is not a must. But I prefer closing the open pores and thus use a pore tightening toner after I exfoliate my skin.
My Pick: Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Cooling Toner. This one closes the pores and also eliminates the blackhead. I love the cool sensation that it provides on the skin. It prepares the face for the massage step next.

4. Massaging

This is my least favorite step of all as it is super time consuming. But, as this improves the blood circulation, it is very essential. I prefer a gel based massage as creams make my skin warm and sensitive when massaged for a long time. I massage the gel on my face for 15-20 minutes and rub my hands with ice cube in-between to keep things calm and cool. I have recently bought a massaging tool and I am planning to keep it in the fridge before using and then massaging the face with it after I apply the gel. I wipe off the excess product with a wet towel after the massage is complete.
My Pick: The Face Shop Damyang Bamboo Fresh Soothing Gel. I love how soothing and calming it feels on the skin. It hydrates my skin and rejuvenates it when it looks dull. It never irritates the skin and it cools down the skin very well.

5. Masking

This is the most favorite step for me as it allows me to relax and do nothing. I apply the mask on my clean skin. If the mask feels too dry, I spray some rose water on the face. I let it dry off completely and then wash off the mask. If I get time, I use a sheet mask over this to give my skin an overdose of serum.
My Pick: The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. I have never used a mask that is more purifying than this one. The smell is so fresh that it actually relaxes your mind. It makes the skin fresh from inside and outside. The skin looks better immediately after I use this and regular use actually helps to remove the scars, blemishes. It evens out the skin and keeps it naturally beautiful.

6. Moisturize

I prefer sealing the deal with a serum and a moisturizer. Generally I always do the facials at night, so I never need a sunscreen after all these steps. The serum and moisturizer makes the facial complete and I love how my skin looks and feels after all the steps are complete.
My Pick: O3+ Seaweed Acne Control Serum and Kama Rejuvenating and Brightening Ayurvedic Night Cream. These are great for my oily skin type. They give the luxe feel to the skin and complete the facial. The serum and moisturizer actually sinks in the skin and it feels awesome.

If you have oily and dull skin like me, this facial will be great for you. Give it a try and you won’t regret!
