Let’s take a look at some of the baking soda home remedies that you can use for your skin and hair.

Baking Soda Skin and Hair

1. Treat acne and pimples:

Baking soda is known to be an effective cure for acne and pimples because of its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Mix some baking soda with a little bit of cold water to make a paste. Apply this paste to the affected area to heal the acne faster. Baking soda also helps in reducing the occurrence of acne.

2. Even out your skin tone:

Baking soda can be used as an effective exfoliator to even out your skin tone. Mix some baking soda and some lukewarm water together. Add olive oil or lemon juice to the mixture and apply it on the affected area. This would remove the top most layer of dead skin and give you an even skin tone.

3. Brighten your complexion:

Baking soda has certain skin brightening properties and you can use it as a face mask to enhance the radiance on your face. Whip up a quick and easy face mask by using baking soda, turmeric or sandwalwood powder, lemon juice and rose water. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water for beautiful and radiant skin.

4. Remove blackheads and whiteheads:

A great way to remove blackheads and whiteheads on your nose is using baking soda. Take some baking soda, a little bit of toothpaste and few drops of lukewarm water. If you want to get rid of the harsh and alcohol based deodorants from your stash, then you have to try baking soda. It is a great natural deodorant. This also helps to reduce underarm darkness and softens the underarm skin as well.

6. Treat oily scalp and hair:

Baking soda makes for an excellent natural dry shampoo as well. If you don’t have a dry shampoo handy or if you prefer not to spray chemical products on your scalp, then all you need is to take a little bit of baking soda and massage it into your roots. This will soak up the excess oil on your scalp and make your hair look fresh and clean.

7. Remove odour from hair:

Oily and unwashed hair can often turn smelly. You can remove the odour from your hair by using baking soda. Mix a little bit of baking soda with an equal amount of cornstarch and massage it on to your scalp. Brush your hair thoroughly to remove any excess product.

The cleansing and clarifying properties of baking soda make it a good anti-dandruff solution. Reap its benefits by adding a little bit of baking soda to your shampoo and cleansing your hair with that.
