Home Remedies For Warts

“Remark all these roughness, pimples, warts, and everything as you see me, otherwise I will never pay a farthing for it.” – Oliver Cromwell

Hi Ladies,

What an unpleasant topic I hear you say, but can we ignore the fact that sometimes these unpleasant things can happen and tend to bog people down! When we hear the word ‘wart’, we think of witches with a wart at the tip of her nose and no one wants to be associated with that do they so the minute one gets one, all hell breaks loose. Well, fear not ladies as there are many ways you can cure warts by some basic home remedies and soon you’ll be wart-free!

Home Remedies For Warts

Let’s quickly analyse what exactly a wart is and how they happen. Warts are small benign growths on the skin caused by the papillomavirus (HPV) invading your skin. So, when this virus scratches your skin surface, it leads to rapid growth of hard skin on the outer layers of the skin which forms the wart. Warts are contagious and can be obtained by touching other people who have them or from scratching warts that you already have in another area of your body. Always keep warts dry and never wet as they spread more when wet.

Here are some simple ways to bid the wart/warts goodbye:

1. Vitamin C

Grab hold of some vitamin C tablets and grind them to a fine paste by mixing with water. Apply the paste on to the wart and seal with a Band-Aid/plaster/tape. The acidic Vitamin C helps fight the virus and kills the wart.

2. Garlic

Fresh garlic when applied to warts can kill them and remove them in as little as a week. Crush some garlic cloves and apply it to the wart, and then cover with Band-Aid. The caustic affect in garlic makes the wart form a blister and fall off on its own.

3. Baking Soda

Dissolve some baking soda in water and repeatedly wash your wart-infested area in that solution. Let the area dry with the baking soda still on it so it works its magic and gradually removes the wart.

4. Castor Oil

This oil is acidic so by swabbing the wart with cotton wool dipped in castor oil will irritate the wart and make it go away.

5. Aloe Vera

Take some cotton soaked in pure aloe vera gel from the aloe leaf and dab it on the wart. Cover it with band aid and repeat the process again the next day till the wart disappears.

6. Basil

Basil leaves contain certain compounds that kill viruses so if you tape a leaf across the wart it will eventually eradicate the wart. This has to be repeated every day by taping fresh basil on the wart each day till you see results.

Apply basil in the morning, tape it on all day and remove the next morning followed by taping a fresh leaf over the wart again.

7. Vinegar

Again, vinegar is acidic so by dabbing cotton soaked in this acetic acid over the wart, the wart will soon vanish.

8. Vitamin E Oil

This oil is also said to help remove warts so all you need to do ladies is, pop open a Vitamin E capsule and apply it over the wart. Rub the oil on the wart and repeat this daily till results show up.

9. Pineapple Juice

Pineapples contains certain enzymes called proteolytic enzymes that are very good for breaking down and dissolving warts. Rub some pineapple juice over the warts regularly and watch them go away.

10. Clove Oil

Clove oil which is popularly used in aromatherapy can be directly rubbed onto the wart regularly to remove it. Clove contains some powerful compounds that dry up the warts and will eventually make it fall off.

So, now you know certain ways in which you can cure warts from your very own kitchen. I know they are ghastly looking and can be upsetting if you spot one, but with patience and diligence in following any of the above remedies, you can bid them farewell.

Do remember to let the warts breath in between applying stuff on them and covering with tape or band aid etc., as they do need to breathe and should not be covered 24/7. If the wart has formed a really thick dry surface, then you can use a new clean pumice stone to rub away the dead skin so that the wart is exposed for the application of any of the above. Do not use the same pumice for any other skin area and it should be discarded once the wart has cured.

However, try to wipe them dry after washing the natural products off as keeping wet for too long will only make them more contagious. And, never ever scratch a wart as it will aggravate it and you don’t want that.

Apply the above solutions, cover, keep them dry and don’t touch. If you do tend to touch an exposed wart, keep a sanitizer handy as you will need to religiously clean/wash your hands to prevent it from spreading onto other parts of either your body or someone else’s in your vicinity.

Au revoir!
xoxo

  1. This post could not have come at a better time. Just today my dermatologist told me that I have warts under my foot which I have been mistakenly believing as corns. Going to get it surgically removed this week. Wish me luck! And great post!

    1. Oh cool! All the best babes with your surgery and till then hope you keep the wart covered so it shouldn’t infect your shoes which you will wear again…!
