Few home remedies:

• Cold compresses help. Use cotton pad soaked in ice water or a used tea bag that you’ve kept in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. Place it on your eyes for at least 2 minutes, but not more than 20 minutes.
• Make a paste out of nutmeg and water and apply it to the affected area. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse it off with lukewarm water to sooth irritated skin.
• Increase the amount of omega-3 oil in your diet by eating more fish and/or taking a supplement. Reduce your caffeine intake and drink more water to keep yourself better hydrated.
• Apply aloe vera gel on the affected area. Try to get a product that contains no preservatives and that is made up of at least 98 percent aloe.

Keep in mind:

• Don’t pull or tug at eyelids.
• To wear sunscreen to prevent dryness due to sun exposure as eyelids are very sensitive to the sun.
• Use an eye cream, find one that is made for dry, sensitive skin and apply morning and night.
• Avoid using a large amount of eye make-up if you have sensitive skin as cosmetics, like eye shadow or eyeliner, may cause this problem for some people.
• Never forget to remove your makeup at the end of the day. Use a gentle facial cleanser for this purpose. People who have chronic dry skin should opt for a product designed for such condition.
