Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo Believer and Peacemaker Review

Hello gorgeous ladies,

Hourglass seems to be obsessed with their n*de selection! They really do take their n*des seriously! In a line consisting of 26 shades, they have close to a dozen variations of n*des! That says a lot about the demand of such products, doesn’t it? So, what are we waiting for? Let’s discuss some more n*des – specifically “Believer” and “Peacemaker.”

My Experience with Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo Believer and Peacemaker:

Packaging: The lipstick comes packaged in the usual Hourglass brown cardboard packaging – very elegant. The lipstick itself has a chubby pencil type of design while the dispense mechanism is regular twist up and not something you need to sharpen. The lipstick tube is again the typical Hourglass brown with gold detailing. It looks quite stunning and classy. The tube has a decent weight, which helps in driving home the whole luxe theme. If you had more than one of these, you wouldn’t be able to differentiate colours except for the sticker at the bottom. For once, the font size is big enough for you to be able to read without squinting.

The lipstick is shaped like a pencil – not like a traditional bullet. While it is still new, it is easy to apply. Being creamy, it isn’t likely to retain the shape. Later, it wouldn’t be easy to apply, especially around the outer corners of the lips. The way you can manage this for some extra time is that apply the lipstick to your lip outline with the pointed end of the lipstick, but fill in the rest of the lips with the side of the lipstick. This will ensure that the tip remains pointy for longer. The one con – and, for me, a big one at that – is the fact that the lipstick doesn’t slide in fully once twisted down. Like the tip of a pencil, the tip of the lipstick stays exposed. And when I say “the tip” – it isn’t a bit – it’s a substantial amount. Yes, there is a cap to ensure hygiene, etc., but since the lipstick doesn’t twist fully down, you have to be extra cautious while removing the cap or re-capping it. One would thing that is no big deal, but in daily use, it is a pain to be constantly careful while handling it. I invariably keep nicking the lipsticks as I open them or close them.

Shades:
Believer: Described by the brand as as “peachy beige” color, but “Believer,” to me, is a light, really pale, milky peach n*de shade. This shade is way too pale and way too milky to look remotely flattering on my light to medium complexion. Even the outline of my lips looks so starkly weird. This is again a shade for someone with snow-white fair complexion. It just washes me out. The shade has semi-opaque pigmentation which is buildable to full coverage. However, the paleness of the shade coupled with the creaminess of the texture causes movement and bunches up when you purse your lips and this is easily visible.

Peacemaker: Described by the brand as a “peachy beige” color, Peacemaker is a light to medium, warm-toned, peachy-pink brown with a luminous sheen. This is almost the perfect n*de shade for my skin tone – both in terms of colour as well as intensity. The peachy-pink gives it the ever so slight hint of color while the brown keeps it flesh toned. The intensity of shade is light to medium where it actually looks like n*de lips and not a MLBB shade and doesn’t make me look washed out either. The glossiness of the texture makes the lips look naturally healthy and plump. This shade has the absolute right balance – for my skin tone – which is light to medium and somewhere between NC25 and NC 30 (in MAC). This shade too is semi-opaque but easily buildable.

Texture: The texture is smooth, creamy, and doesn’t sink into the fine lines of the lips. The lipstick is hydrating and has this amazing polished and lustrous finish. The blend of shea moisture, jojoba, mimosa and sunflower seed really nourish the lips and make your lips look plump and attractive. They seem just perfect for this winter weather. With all the lipstick testing that my lips have been going through, they have not been worse for wear only because of the phenomenally nourishing formula of this line.

Staying Power: Considering the shades and how emollient the product is, it gives about 3-3.5 hours of wear. There is no stain with these shades.

Fragrance: There is a slight fragrance, which is not an additive. The fragrance comes from the plethora of seed oils in the product. Do ensure you check this when you buy a lipstick from this range as a couple of my shades had a more pronounced smell. This could be the result of slightly older stock. Do note, this line is fairly new, so it isn’t like the stock is very old. But, the seed oils can start turning depending on how/where these are stored.

IMBB Rating:
Believer – 3.5/5
Peacemaker – 4/5

“Believer” is not my shade for sure – it will work for a very niche select skin tone range. However, Peacemaker excites me because it is pretty much the perfect actual n*de shade for me. The texture of this range is really really hydrating.
