My Experience with Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer:

Packaging:  This concealer comes in stick/ lipstick tube like format with a twist up mechanism. The cap closes securely and the tube is lightweight and travel friendly.

Texture:  This concealer is creamy, but has a bit of a dry texture. Due to this reason, it does cause some tug if you were to drag it on your skin. My preferred method of applying this is dabbing some on the area I want to conceal, like my under eye and some blemishes, and blend it out by tapping it in with my fingertips of a Beauty Blender sponge. The former method works much better as the warm of your fingertips helps to melt the product into the skin easily.

Coverage and Finish:  This is a medium-to-full coverage concealer. When I use it on the under eye, I barely need to do use a corrector underneath which I would usually do to counteract the darkness. This concealer on its own provides wonderful coverage in the thinnest layer and makes my under-eye area appear brighter and my dark circles almost vanish.

I love that this finish it gives is very natural-looking matte. It does not have any kind of sheen which is what I prefer when it comes to my under eye area.

Shade:  This concealer comes in 10 shades. I have the shade “Natural,” which is described as “light-medium” with neutral undertone which is true to its name and matches my skin tone perfectly.

Feel and look on skin: This concealer is a bit heavy on the skin hence it is best to use the thinnest possible layer as it does have a tendency to cake up if applied heavily. Since the texture is dry, it might not work best for those with already dry skin as it can cling to dry patches and accentuate it. Since I have oily eye area, I don’t face any issue when I use it as an under eye concealer, but rest of my face is dry, which poses a problem when I try to use this concealer to spot concealer my blemishes or breakouts.

If you have oily eye area, it is good to set this with a light dusting of powder after application, otherwise it does tend to crease when you skin naturally folds. Due to this quality I don’t think this is a best choice for those with heavy lines and wrinkles and mature skin.

Staying Power:  Staying power is really good. It stays for 6-7 hours before I notice slight fading and it does maintain its shine free finish without any need for touchups.  This concealer feels very similar to my Cle de peau concealer, which I love very much and it’s one of my HG concealer. The finish, texture and staying powder is very similar and I would not be able to tell them apart except for some minor differences in how they feel. The Cle de Peau is a bit creamier, less heavy on the skin, and does not tug as much. It also creases far less and does not accentuate fine lines as much the Hourglass one. Hence in comparison to the Hourglass concealer, still falls short to my Cle de peau concealer even though the latter is double the price.

Overall, this is a decent concealer. I really love the natural-looking matte finish and the full coverage it gives enough to hide my really bad dark circles. This may not be right for you if you suffer from a lot of fine lines and wrinkles or if you have dry skin, but I am happy enough with this concealer to recommend it.
