Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil Review

Hello everyone,

This review will be on the Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil.

Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil

Product Description:

A richly concentrated oil blend of cutting-edge actives, botanicals, and skin-rejuvenating vitamins for the delicate lip area.

What it does:

As a follow up to No. 28 Primer Serum, this highly advanced lip treatment oil has both short and long-term benefits for the lips. The combination of powerful actives, essential oils, plant oils, and vitamins works on contact to condition lips, relieve dryness and chapping, and shield against environmental elements. In addition, three advanced active ingredients strengthen the moisture barrier; boost skin smoothness; and elevate the appearance of lip texture, shape, and volume. No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil is dispensed via an opulent 24 karat, antibacterial, gold-plated tip to create a soothing effect on the lips.

My Experience with Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil:

This product is true luxury. I have had a very good experience with most of the Hourglass makeup in the past and this the first time I am trying something from their brand designed as a skin/lip care. With this harsh winter season, lately my lips have been going through a very dry phase. Also, the fact that I have been wearing a lot of matte lipsticks isn’t really helping.  So, I have made a regime of exfoliating and moisturizing my lips and this lip treatment is the biggest helper in making my lips feel plump and pouty again.

Packaging:

Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil

Comes in a such a luxurious-looking packaging. It is sturdy, plastic, with a see-through cap which opens up to reveal this 24 karat gold plated tip applicator. You remove the cap and place index finger on grooved surface behind the gold tip, and press down to dispense product.  The gold tip is supposed to be anti-bacterial and also claims to provide a soothing effect to where it is applied, which it does. If you have ever used those roller ball under eye cream applicators, this follows a similar concept for the lips. In my opinion, this gold tip is the reason for the very expensive price tag. I still think this product would have performed well even if the tip were made of some other less expensive metal, like those in roller balls and the price of the product could have been lowered.

Texture:

This lip treatment oil is very thick and spreads easily and evenly with the help of the applicator tip. It is not sticky at all, but it definitely gives a thick, high shine coating to the lips and drenches it in hydration. It has a certain degree of slip when you rub your lips together. My chapped dry lips feel immediately soothed and a couple of hours of this product on my lips, I can most definitely see and feel the difference.  It does transfer on cups and glasses, but even then the product does not rub off completely. You can still feel the hydration coating locked on the lips and even hours after the product is wiped off or washed off, the lips still feel in top notch condition.

Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil

This is not one of those products which will not work within minutes, for example like those lip balms you apply when prepping for makeup and wipe it off when it’s time to apply lipstick. It definitely needs some hours on the lips to work its magic and gives best results when applied overnight. This is not a lip treatment you can use under any lipstick as it will not make the lipstick adhere onto the lips due to its thickness.

The applicator does get messy after every application, but I do wipe it off with a tissue after every use to keep it clean.

Fragrance:

It has a strong herbal-floral scent which is neither unpleasant nor overpowering.

Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil

Overall, this product does perform incredibly well and does hydrate and moisturize the lips.  The price tag is definitely on the higher side due to the gold-plated tip and the luxury brand name. It is definitely a splurge and if you get this, you will not be disappointed, but is it worth a $42 price tag.  Your pocket should be the judge to that.

Pros of Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil:

  • Very hydrating and moisturizing.
  • Heals chapped lips overnight.
  • Very thick and glossy looking on the lips.
  • Gives a thick coating of moisture to the lips.
  • Luxury packaging and applicator.
  • Pleasant scent.

Cons of Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil:

  • Very expensive price tag.
  • Not a lip balm that you can use under lipstick due to its thickness.
  • Does need some time to work, preferably overnight. You will not see results within minutes.
  • Some people may not like the thickness.
