How I Got Rid of My Forehead Acne – 6 Tips!

Skin tone – Moderately fair with pink facial undertones and rest of the body with yellow (weird!)
Skin type – Sensitive, combination

Hi angels,
I just noticed that all my efforts have finally paid off. I always thought my forehead is one of my worst features. It has wrinkles, fine hair and the most unflattering thing ever, it had acne – not big ones but cluster of tiny-miny annoying, tingling acne. They are almost gone now. Touchwood! I was doing a lot of things like applying homemade packs, scrubbing, drinking lots of water etc. Nothing was working, but then I am stubborn and I really wanted that clear forehead. I researched about it on internet, made some changes, followed a skin care routine and altered my diet. I can say my forehead is 70% free of acne and it looks brighter and firmer than ever. Would you like to know what did I do exactly? Please care to read.

How I Got Rid of My Forehead Acne - 6 Tips!

1. Sayonara fringe

I bid adieu my fringes with a heavy heart. Fringe style suits me a lot but I realised it was one of the reasons my forehead was suffering from acne. I have started using a hairband to keep those fringes off my face. You see our hair hold a lot of dust particles and dandruff which are the dead skins from our scalp. The dust, the dandruff and continuous touching by hands, these three together are the recipe for stubborn forehead acne.

2. Moisturizing, cleansing and delicate exfoliation

Cleansing
After so many unsuccessful experiments with a number of high-end cleansers and exfoliators, I settled for one combo that helped clearing my forehead acne a lot. It’s The Body Shop (TBS) Camomile Silky cleansing oil and Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant duo. I use TBS Vitamin E toner afterwards but I do skip it sometimes so I wouldn’t recommend that.

3. A retinol serum

My pick is Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum. It has retinol, Vitamin C, niacinamide to counter inflammation and anti-oxidants for brightening. The pale creamy serum is absorbed by your skin in a matter of seconds and gives a matte looking forehead. It does tingle a bit but that fades away in a minute or two. It has brightened my tanned forehead and wrinkles have also become much less prominent.
Note – I have extremely oily forehead, so I don’t apply any moisturizer after this serum. Depending on your skin type, you can use a moisturizer but it should not be a pore clogging one.

4. Papaya

Ohh! I love this fruit. I included it in my diet on a friend’s recommendation; she is an MBBS. I make sure I have it thrice a week at least. It keeps my digestive system healthy; I read it prevents signs of ageing also as it is rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants. It’s a wonder fruit!

5. Understand vata dosha

According to Ayurveda, forehead acne indicates Vata (air) Dosha (defect). I did some online research and started taking hydrating foods, added roughage (salads and high fibre foods), good fats and oils in my diet and made sure my digestive system was OK. Topically, I stress on a light serum after moisturizing, cleanse, and delicate exfoliation as I mentioned above.

6. Keep your hands away from your face

Our hands are mostly full of germs. The handles of doors, our mobiles, keyboards, handbags, we pick up germs from everywhere and transfer them to our face every time we touch it. When I had fringes, I used to adjust them and touch my forehead a lot. I don’t do it anymore and results are in front of me. My forehead looks so better that I couldn’t resist myself from writing this article for all of you.

At last I would like to stress on our diet, as we are what we eat. Our skin reflects our diet so we need to eat as nutritious as we can. Keeping a check on caffeine, replacing that one cup with green tea or juice, keeping junk food at bay and following a skin care routine religiously help a lot. I hope this article has helped you in understanding the reasons why you suffer from forehead acne and I wish my routine works wonders for you like it did for me. Take care; stay beautiful inside out.

  1. Hi,
I used to have forehead acne as well. Reading your post, I realized it’s doing away with the bang that has helped me. But I am having pimoles on my face now, because of eating out. 🙁
