How to Do Acrylic Nails at Home

Hello IMBBians,

All of us love beautiful and slender hands and the easiest way to upgrade our hands is by beautifying and painting your nails. However, not all of us have naturally long and strong nails and may need a little help from the experts. Acrylic nail treatment has been very popular for the last decade amongst ladies, and it is the most sought after treatment opted for long and strong nails that do not break and make nail polish stick better. The good thing is that you do not need to go to a salon to get acrylic nails done and can try them at the comfort of your home too. Stay tuned to find out how!

Step 1:

Gather your supplies; make sure that everything you will need during the procedure is laid down in front of you so that you do not have to get up again and again while working on your nails. It will save a lot of your time and energy and cut down on wasteful activities. Things that you will need are nail filer, clipper, acrylic nail powder, acrylic nail glue, acrylic nails, nail forms, monomer, a glass bowl, brush, top coat and a nail polish of your choice.

Step 2:

Remove any old nail polish that you might be wearing and trim your nails to a comfortable length which is not way too short. Next, file your nails to smoothen any sharp edges. Also, buff your nail’s surface in light strokes with help of a buffer as it helps to stick nail polish better onto your nails and makes your manicure last longer.

Step 3:

Now, it’s time to choose the acrylic nail tips for each of your fingers that suits its width and height perfectly. It may be useful to know that acrylic nails have a translucent marking on their lower end and you should place these faux nails on your nails according to these markings. Also, make sure that your acrylic nail does not extend beyond the middle of your natural nail and if it does, file its base and bring it to the middle of your natural nail.

Step 4:

Use the translucent markings as on where you should put the glue on your acrylic nails, and then stick the nail immediately onto your natural ones to avoid them from drying off. Hold the newly applied acrylic nail with your index finger and thumb in place and gently press it down for about 30 seconds; this helps the nail to stick firmly to your natural nail bed and make your extensions last longer.

Step 5:

Now, trim your newly done extensions and shape them as per your needs and wishes. Also, file your nails to make them look even and also to avoid the raised nail look at the point where your acrylics meet your natural nails.

Step 6:

Now, you should be ready to put acrylic monomer over your extensions so as to strengthen them. To begin with, pour some monomer liquid in a small glass bowl and some monomer powder into another bowl.

To start applying acrylics, dip your brush into monomer liquid and then dip it in the powder in one quick swipe. Quickly apply this mix onto your nails in quick firm strokes and try to be as even as possible. Finish off each nail in the same manner.

Step 8:

You may notice that your nails might be a bit uneven after this procedure. Fret not! It is quite normal and can be solved by buffing your nail’s surface in slow and steady strokes. Also, you may file and shape your nails a bit if you feel the need to again.

Now it’s time for the fun part, ladies; apply a base coat and wait for it to dry. Apply your favorite nail polish and finish off with the top coat to unleash the diva inside you.

That’s all for today, girls! Hope this helps.
