Today, I tried doing a little tutorial for all of you. It’s called ‘How to apply eyeliner for sharp looking eyes’. Now, I am not really a pro when it comes to applying eye liner. I also have bad eyeliner days (way too often), so suggestions are welcome. Without wasting anymore time, let’s begin!
STEP 1: Start by preparing your eyes with primer and concealer.
STEP 2: Blend in the concealer and/or primer with your fingertips or with the help of a concealer brush (I prefer doing it with my fingers when I am in a hurry).
STEP 3: Now, it’s time to tightline the upper lash line (for starters, tight lining is a process in which you apply kohl/kajal/eyeliner right in between your lashes so as to give an illusion of invisible eyeliner). Start by stretching your eye upwards as shown in the picture.
STEP 4: Now, start by applying kohl/liner from the outermost corner of your upper lash line and go inwards. Please feel free to apply multiple strokes in order to get a more intense finish. Also, do not worry about going till the innermost corner of your eye, just take your kohl pencil till the point you feel comfortable.
I do this step just to ensure that there’s no gap between my eyeliner and lash line. If you are not comfortable with the idea of tightlining, you may skip this step.
STEP 5: After tightlining, take out your favorite eyeliner (or use the same one if you were already using an eye liner). Draw a small stroke of line from the innermost corner of your eye till the middle of eye. Do not worry yourself about getting perfect and even stroke (we will fix that later) just, try to keep as close as to the lash line.
STEP 6: Now, keep your eyeliner where you completed your previous stroke and again draw a small stroke to the outermost corner of your eye. Again, try to keep it as close as possible to the lash line.
You can also make three small strokes instead of 2 strokes but, avoid doing the whole eye in one go.
STEP 7: Now, apply a final stroke of eyeliner from the innermost corner to the outermost. This is to ensure an even finish and smooth line.
STEP 8: Make a small, slanted line at the outermost corner of your eye as shown in the picture.
STEP 9: Make another slanted line at the outermost corner of your eye in the way that it makes a triangle with the previously made slanted line.
STEP 10: Fill in the little triangle and it should look something like what you can see in the picture.
STEP 11: Apply kohl to your waterline. Please do not apply thick strokes of kohl on your lower lash line as that might make your eyes look over dramatic. The motive behind applying kohl to waterline is to balance out the lower and upper lash line. Also, I feel that applying thick kohl on waterline adds years to the age (no offence to anyone, just what I think), if not done right.
STEP 12: Apply some mascara and you are good to go!
Products Used:
Diana of London Light Buff Backstage Concealer
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (on the upper lash line)
Oriflame Smooth Eye Definer (for tight lining)
Colorbar I Glide Eye Pencil in Blackout
Tips:
• Do not tight line on a daily basis
• Do not miss concealer or primer underneath if you have dark eyelids or have under eye dark circles
• Do not apply kohl to waterline if you are in a hurry and don’t have time for primer and concealer
• Do not forget to have loads of fun! 😀
