How to Deal with a Bad Haircut

How to Deal with a Bad Haircut

A bad haircut is something that we all dread and have already experienced once or more in our lives. There is nothing more depressing than the thought and sight of an unwanted accidental haircut. It becomes all the more annoying for us as usually there is a special occasion or a party planned to attend to in near future. Just the thought of it brings shiver to me. Unfortunately, I have been a victim of such a situation more than once. This I would totally blame on my need and desire to experiment. And of course, sometimes such experiments give fantastic results and other times they are just termed as accidents. If you also belong to my category then, here are some tips to deal with such a situation bravely and face the world with all the courage you can gather.
Tip #1 Consult your stylist then and there.

Sometimes it so happens that it just does not click. You were too enthusiastic to get a particular hairstyle but somehow it does not suit you. You can politely tell this to your stylist and demand a change. Maybe you are satisfied with little bit of snip and snap here and there.

Tip # 2 Own your choice with a Smile

Now, that you have it you’ve got to manage it with a smile. Try to pick a few accessories to go with your current hair do. To spice up the situation you can add have few color streaks to your hair. I can quote my personal example here, a few years back I accidently got my hair too short, with too short I mean not even an inch from a few places :-O Initially I was excited but in a few days I was too shy to face the world. I just went ahead and got a few red strands in my hair. Now nobody cared to notice me or my short hair. All the attention was caught by a few strands of red hair.  You can even have some fun with your hair by using various hair products like mousse or gel. Try using flat irons or curling rods to change the look.

Tip # 3 Take extra care of and let it grow

You might as well let your hair grow so, you get a chance to visit the salon again and experiment. Try using hair masks and oil your hair regularly. This would not only grow your hair fast but also improve the quality and texture of your hair.

Tip # 4 Prevent it next time

Before your next visit to the salon, try to do some study. There are so many websites offering virtual makeovers. You can try different hair cuts on your face and then decide for your choice. This can avoid any further haircut accidents for you.

Tip # 5 Change your stylist

This can be very tricky as no one is sure for the new hair stylist. Mishaps can happen anytime and anywhere. I personally don’t like to change my stylist and totally rely on his/her creativity. One should give clear instructions before the whole process begins and let them create a magic for you.

You can fix any sort of mess and this is just a haircut. Use your creative mind and don’t allow a bad haircut ruin your life. I am hoping my tips have been helpful for you. Share your haircut woes with us, we all can learn and try to avoid such situations.

    1. same pinch Vinaya rofl rofl I too have encountered this situation once…it took me a while to grow my hair even after that..

  4. I got a hair cut 2 days before only, I will say m not satisfied at all. I’ve noticed one thing that these hair stylists give the hair cut and then give use hair styling but after washing them, actual hair cut arrives which sometime occurs to be a disaster.

    1. u r right Manisha, i was facing the same problem, n then i found a solution. Every time I get a haircut, I tell the stylist to show me the cut before actually setting it..u know how will they look after a wash. If I am happy with the way it looks I let him set it for me..otherwise he makes the needful changes for me..u can try this trick… *haan ji* *haan ji*

  5. Any hair cut I get done , the style stays till I wash my hair!

i envy those with different hair styles though *secret* wish to have a haircut soon 🙂

    1. thanks Soundarya, even i had very long hair, but I wanted to experiment n the rest is history… *jai ho* *jai ho*

  7. i have undergone such horrible experiences many a times before… now to i don’t go for haircuts only… *hihi* i go for trimmings… the front bags get the opportunity of being cut..thats it.. 😛 😛

  8. Wonderful post Shilpi. I have had a couple of disastrous hair cuts but yes with some accessories – clips, hair bands, hair color etc i managed to do fine. After all the experimenting, now i know what will absolutely not suit me 😀 more than wrong hair cuts, i have had issues with wrong hair color. Too blonde, too red *hihi* survived them all. 🙂

  9. I go to the stylist when my hair needs washing… so that I get to see how my hair looks even when my hair is at its natural limp self….

My stylist (of many years) pleads with me every time to let her wash my hair before the cut… but no…. I don’t let her…. so that I can have a realistic view…

Also, when altering my hair length, I ask her to start with a length at least 2 or 3 inches more than i actually want, so that I can have a choice to cut it further…. or let it be…
