Rebonding has become an addictive habit now, not actually with me, but with all the ladies. Once you get it done, you always want to do it again. As I said, I do rebonding at home, so I bought this kit from Wella. I have used this kit before and got amazing results. There are two variants, one is the mild one that is for chemically treated hair and the intense one for 30% bleached hair and natural hair. But ultimately mild does not give very good results as it does leave the hair a bit wavy and does not straight out all the kinks. So, I will give you a little detail on how to use this product and what effects it causes to the hair.
Rs. 450 for 2 treatments, 100 ml each.
They have given a long pamphlet mentioning how to use the product, for what time it should be left, important tips, and do’s and don’ts. The list is very long that I cannot write it in the review or else you guys will have to wait a day to read the review.
Ways To Use Wellastrate Straightening Kit ( I have shortened the steps and wrote it in my own way as that becomes easy for everyone to read):
1. Wash your hair and blow dry it completely.
2. You get those boards from Wella itself which you place under the hair. Partition your hair into 4 parts and apply the straightening cream strand by strand and use four boards, one for backside hair, one for right side, one for left and the fourth one if you have bangs or fringe.
3. Now, comb each hair and place them on the boards, they will automatically stick to the board, so that the hair become fully straight and comb the kinks or curves if any.
4. Now, you have to sit for an hour with the boards stuck to your hair. The actual time mentioned for bleached hair is 15-20 minutes, but I don’t get all straightened hair in that time, so I keep it for an hour. Make sure to apply 2 cms away from the scalp as you don’t want it to go inside your scalp and if it goes inside, it would cause hair fall.
5. Remove the boards and wash the hair after an hour with lukewarm water and then blow dry. You will have really really bad hair but that is because of the chemical treatment and do not get scared, the neutralizer has still its work to do.
6. Now, take your straightening iron and keep the temperature around 180 degrees. Now, take very small strands and straighten each strand perfectly for 3 times and do it for all your hair.
7. Now, apply the step 2 that is the neutralizer in the same way as you did with the first step (the straightening cream) and leave it for an hour again.
8. Wash it after an hour and blow dry it and you are done with the rebonding process.
9. Now, do not clip you hair or put them behind your ears as it may develop curves and do not even apply water. Wash your hair after 3 days with your shampoo and conditioner and you will have gorgeously straightened hair.
My Experience with Wellastrate Straight System Kit:
I have been rebonding my hair at home only, so I bought this kit. This kit contains a straightening cream, a neutralizing cream and a pamphlet of instructions. The straightening cream is a bit thick in consistency like the conditioners and has a very strong smell which actually irritates the nose and eyes at times, but that’s how all the chemical treatments are done. People who have rebonded their hair might be knowing the way these creams smell. It comes in white colour and is easy to apply, but you have to put on gloves while doing it and you need at least one person to do the entire process for you as you can’t do it yourself and I love my mom 😛 The neutralizer is also white in colour and is less thick in consistency than the straightening cream and also the smell is a little less strong. The consistency of this is like the shampoos. This kit gave me amazing results and it did what it promised. It fully straightened my hair, actually poker straight. There was not even a single curve in my hair, although if we use the mild one, the curves will be still spotted. It also conditioned my hair and did not leave them rough.
It did not even cause excess damage excluding the damage that this process causes. It will damage the hair a little as it a chemical treatment but the creams did not cause any further damage. The damage was less as compared to the damage I noticed in my hair when I got it done at the parlour as they use excessive chemicals, but sadly, the results turn out to be same either ways. The product only caused me 450 bucks which is like a penny for the beautiful hair it gave me. Each tube is a 100 ml one, so was almost enough for my hair and doing it at home did not make any difference as I am doing this at home for the past 3-4 years, but yes, you need to take care and also the person doing it for you should do it in the right way. Even if you don’t do rebonding at home, you can tell your stylist to use this one as this will give you perfect straight hair.
Pros of Wellastrate Straight System Kit:
- The quantity in the tubes are enough for the length (hair) I have.
- Made my hair very very straight.
- Did not leave any curves behind.
- Costs just a few bucks.
- Can be done at home, you don’t need to go to the parlour.
- Comes with a pamphlet that will answer all your questions.
- Rebonding will last for a year with this kit.
- No excess damage due to the creams.
- Did not make my hair rough but that depends on hair type as well.
Cons of Wellastrate Straight System Kit:
- The kit does not contain the boards required for the rebonding process.
- The kit does not contain gloves mandatory for the rebonding process.
- One box might not be enough if you have your hair 5-6 cm longer than me.
Will I Repurchase/Do I Recommend Wellastrate Straight System Kit?
Yes of course, I will be using this one whenever I want to straighten my hair permanently and I know this idea of doing rebonding hair at home would not be okay for everyone, but if you are comfortable with it, then use this one, it will give you what you need.

Rebonding at home.. My hubby wont allow me 4 rebonding bt i’l pass dis on to my sis wth such less price m pretty shockd..
Yes i know most of the people scared doing it at home *haan ji* *haan ji* yes such less price… parlour people use some more chemicals but the result come out to be the same so why damage your hair more *happydance* *happydance* *happydance*
woww.. this is like great… *clap* *clap*
*thankyou* *thankyou* sooooo much Sahiba *pompom* *pompom*
I love you for this …….. *woot* *woot* *woot* *puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi*
I desperately wanted to ask you for this but no idea how to contact you..
You have saved my 10k.. love you for this 🙂
every year i have to get my hair re bonded as i cannot live without it.
I have 4 questions:
1) Which straightener i should buy for this? i have Nova which is not worth for heavy hair.
2) From where will i get boards and this cream?
3) As per “5. Remove the boards and wash the hair after an hour with lukewarm water and then blow dry. ”
I have to keep it for an hour and then remove boards and wash my hair or after removing boards i have to keep hair for an hour and then wash it off?
Sorry for confusion!! 🙁
4) Parlor wale takes around 5-6hours in this whole procedure, we just have to keep these creams for an hour each??
Thanks in advance
Awwwww *thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Neha *pompom* *pompom*
Here are the answers:
1. Remington is the straightener which i use, costs around 2k… the best i feel in the market at that price … you buy that and you will surely never regret it pakka… i have used Nova and agreed it does not do a very good job but remington will straighten the curliest hair as well…
2. I bought the board and the cream from a local shop only but possibility that all the local shops don’t stock it… if you stay here in mumbai thn beauty shop would be the best one… or any big beauty stores.!!
3. See you apply the cream strand by strand and stick them on the board , let it be on the board for an hour because it will keep our hair straight , then after an hour remove the boards and wash your hair…
4. yes i know even i was shocked to know that, but this process took me 4 hours… i don’t know why they keep it for soo long.. on the pamphlet it was written only 15 mins but i was smart too keep it for an hour lol *happydance* *happydance*
yes you are really smart.. hats off to you… *puchhi* *puchhi*
Thanks for all my answers and i will bother you again in some other post if i will have any other query 😉
hahahahahaa lol *hihi* *hihi* yes definitely no worries you can ask me whatever you want dear *puchhi*

I WILL DO THIS…..
*puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi*
your most welcome *puchhi* *puchhi* and do try but keeping each and everything in mind… and the main thing leave a gap of 2 cms from the roots… *haan ji* *haan ji*
I had coloured my hair in December 2012. Now my roots are black while ends are brown. Will it give the same results?
yess Avanti me too have coloured hair similarly *pigtail* and it will give the same results but it will damage the hair a bit at the ends and make it frizzy for a few days *haan ji* because of the colour but will proper maintenance it will look less damaged.. and when you apply the stragihtening cream you hair will be volumized and then apply neutralizer hair will become thoda thin and very straight.. but after 3 days when you wash it it will mix up and give you nice pretty looking hair *pigtail* telling you all this so that you don’t get scared when you actually notice these things *hihi* *hihi*
Very good article Saloni.. *puchhi*
Can I use the milder version if I have naturally straight hair?
*thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Pallavi… *puchhi* yes you can use a milder version but it is for people who have chemically treated their hair before… if you haven’t treated your hair then go for the intense one… *happydance* but depends totally upon you which one do you want to go for… mild one may leave behing little curves and if that isn’t a prob then you can use the milder one as well *hifive* *hifive* *happydance* *pigtail*
Wow..Great! Would love to save my 10k 😀 Do we need to use some special shampoo after using this method?.. as I am presently using Loreal shampoo for straight hair (my hair already rebonded).
*thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Shivani.. *hifive* me saving 10k from 5 years lol *hihi* *hihi* professional stylists recommend some special shampoo but it actually does not matter.. you can use the ones you want but which are specially formulated for straightened hair… *haan ji* *haan ji* try matrix opticare ka shampoo and conditioner together once.. does amazing job for rebonded hair *happydance* *happydance* although if you are comfortable with the one you use then continue with the same one *hifive*
Thanks a lot! 🙂
Saloni….great post……it will help those girls a lot who want to get rebonding done 🙂
*thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Jomol di *puchhi* i know hundreds of girlies like me who can’t stay without rebonding *hihi* *hihi* *happy dance*

Hey Baby lovely post *puchhi* just one query how long does the straightening remain after the treatment *shy*
*thankyou* *thankyou* tons Preeti *puchhi* ummmm if you have very curly hair then around 6-8 months and if you have naturally straight growth or have straightened your hair before then around a year *happydance* *happydance* *pigtail*
somebody please tell me how to change image which is shown here *scared*
Gravatar.com pe go and follow the steps… you’ll get a profile pic.. *hifive* and yes it will last that long if you have little wavy hair *happydance*
Really wow I have slightly wavy hair so it should remain for long *happydance* *happy dance*
hey saloni 🙂 which shampoo and conditioner should be used to wash the hair after the rebonding process??
Arshdeep matrix opticare range is the best so far according to me for rebonded hair *happy dance* *happy dance* however if you are comfortable with some other ones you can go ahead with them too *happy dance* *happy dance*
just loved ur hairs 😀 😀 i am born with super curly hairs *waaa* *waaa* , have tried rebonding once couple of years back and it took 7 long hours .
i have little confusion now, few months back i have seen Wella straighting cream and bought it. Later i checked its review at IMBB https://makeupandbeauty.com/wella-wellastrate-cream-neutraliser-builtin-conditioner-review/ (Link to check that review)
But after reading your review i am confused *shock* *shock* are they both same or different.
Price for both the products are almost same.

*thankyou* *thankyou* u r really a very talented gal.. i ve never imagined doing it myself.. bt now am thinking to do it myself.. one question.. i have already got my hairs rebonded 3 times… wich variant i should use while doing the process at home?
aawwww you made me happy *pompom* *thankyou* *thankyou* soooo much *haan ji* *haan ji* even i have rebonded my hair many times … they have recommended to use the mild one but that gives a natural look and goes off in 4 months or so… if you want lasting results use the intense one… that will give you proper rebonded hair the way you will be expecting… *pompom* go for intense no worries… mild will give you a natural look and intense a proper rebonded look… pick the one you are comfortable with *happydance* and there is no chemical difference between them so feel free to pick *hifive*

Thanks Saloni! you are one talented girl. very helpful article.
*thankyou* *thankyou* soooo much Raji… *woot* *pompom*
Saloni, I have recently dyed my hair, can the mild one be used for my hair and can dye be added to the 2nd creaming process?
Hey elizabeth… actually even i dyed my hair recently and i used the intense one and nothing happened… so you can either use the mild or the intense one will not make much of a difference.. but the mild one may leave some curves and the intense one will not… *pompom* *pompom* and its advisable if you don’t add anything to these creams as they are risky chemicals and a different reaction may take place if you add something to them… *haan ji* hope this helped *happy dance*
Thanks a lot for your prompt and helpful reply
woah! rebonding at home! good job saloni dearie! i will look for this product and invite some friends for some diy bonding session. i like the savings i‘ll get from this plus it gave u fab results. 😀
yes it gives the same results Val *happydance* *happydance* hope i am not irritating the beauty salons lol *hihi* *hihi* yes surely invite your friends and do it once… you will enjoy *happydance* *happydance*
can i rebond my hair again after 6 months? how many times do you rebond your hair?
UMmm i would suggest to take a gap of atleast 8 months *haan ji* *haan ji* because 6 months me the damage will double up *headbang* *headbang*
*thankyou* *thankyou* *thankyou* so much…i wnt to knw one more thng if i used this cream then kithne din tak mera hair straight hoke rahega…….???
Karishma if you havee curly hair then your hair would remain straight for like 5 months and if you have straight pehle se hi then around 8-9 months *happy dance* *happy dance*
Hi saloni, where can i find boards for rebonding? and please specify the exact name of the boards?? I searched online but couldn’t find it.. help me out please…
Hieee Maduri i don’t know what they are called… but you go to a beauty shop to give you rebonding boards and they will if they have and if you don’t get it from there … then a parlour lady would be a great help to you *happy dance* *happy dance*
Hiii…I straightned my hairs 1 yr 8 months back..and after an aprox of 1 yr, I started facing the problem of regrowth..I wanted to get the rebonding done but it was not possible as I shifted to a place called Sichar, Assam. Then I took the initiative of doing it at home as here I have no faith in parlors..I brought the wellastate and did all the steps as you wrote but I only kept it for 15 to 20 min as was written in the wellastrte and not gor 1 hours..I have not used the board as you have written..I used a plastic board which I found in my cupboard..and after using the neutrilizer I washed it off by using shampoo and applied conditioner..are all this the reason that my hair was not straightened? I was so sad about it..
After reading your page I want to get it done at home once again but I am confused about the last step that you have wriiten..while washing off the neutrilizer do we have the shampoo or just lukewarm water?
Plz plz plz reply my queries *thankyou* *puchhi*
Hieeee see in the last step you do not need to shampoo just wash off with lukewarm water, apply a serum n blowdry it *hifive* see its like if you have curly n thick hair then it becomes difficult to do it at home..n do keep it for a longer time..because possibilty that it might not grasp in 20 mins…n yes do use boards specially desgned for them..they just costed me like 200 bucks…if you dont get it in a local shop then ask some parlour lady n follow all the steps and you will get redults for sure *hifive* *happydance*
Hello there, very interesting procedure…. I like it. And I had once rebonding my hair last february and up to now still straight but it started to grow from my scalp in about an inches now. And it doesnt look good. Now i need this procedure and definitely want to do it my own. So thanks for this tips. BUT, where can i buy this kind of products. Am here in Scotland. What other products do you recommend other than Wella….
Thanks a milion
Gemma i thinnk it will be readily available in big stores for sure *happy dance* *happy dance* and most of the stores have such rebonding kits and they will suggest you a good one too *happydance* *happydance* and if you don’t get any then try for loreal xtenso… that is available everywhere *happy dance* *happy dance* but first search for kits *happy dance* *happy dance* hope this helped *happydance*
I used this and accidentally put it on my scalp. Now my hair falls. Will it grow back or it’ll stay thag way permanently due to damage hair? Kind of worried now
Ohhoooooi mentioned not to put in on scalp…has to be 1 cm away… hair fall can be reduced with proper oiling and maintaining your hair… don’t worry the hair grows back normally *puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi*
Hi! I’m Agnes, I did permanent hair straightening with wella products and other suggested to use the same shampoo and mosturing cream, is it OK if I use other shampoo after 3 days? could you please help me out..

can rebounding be done without earlier straightening of hair
Hi, nice review
I followed every step and results are quite good as it is my first time. Thanks
hi… nice post … i wanted to ask you that my hairs are very thin & loking rough at the end. but they are oily from the scalp. so my question is should i go for the hair rebonding or for the hair smoothing? and also i wanted to knw that ki is it necessary t use the straighting shampoo or is it ok if I use other shampoo like loreal simple shampoo aur sunsilk black shampoo ?could you please help me out…waiting for ur replay
hi… very nice and cheap method.. but i have a ques!
i have heard special shampoos have to be used when rebonding is done.
what shampoos and conditioners have to be used after this straightening?
Plz solve my problem, D day since i read about simple way of rebonding of hair at home, m curious to buy ds wellastrate intense bt still i hvnt found it in market. It is available in white packing.
plz help me to arrange ds kit for me.
After the rebonding starts going off will it make my hair rough or dry?
Where can i buy the boards from ?
Do they have any specific name. I did find them in any shops near my house, are they available online ?
I did rebonding and didn’t get good results. I didn’t have boards so did the process without the boards, could that be the reason ?
I am totally shocked to see such a good result in such low budget….but when checked online to buy this product i found it in many variations…when i searched for the same coloured box which you have displayed here in the site…i found the cost of the product which is matching to the one you have shown here at around 4,500/- in amazon …. I am surprised you have mentioned it to be of 400bucks…can you please clear my confusion!!!! 🙂
Hey type wella straightening cream on flipkart.. you will get an orange kit, get that one that is even better… the online sites will charge import duties so you can buy the same kit I mentioned from a beauty shop/store available around you and you will et it at the price I mentioned 🙂
The kit that I have mentioned retails at Rs 450 now.. it is the official MRP.. so get it from a store and you will get it at the MRP 🙂
