How I Try To Get Rid of My Acne

Today, I’m going to talk about my process of trying to get rid of my acne.


Ever since I was 13 years old, I am dealing with acne. It’s horrible, it really affected my self-esteem, it still does sometimes. I have gone to the dermatologist when I was 15-16 years old and I was prescribed a lotion. I had to put this daily on my acne spots and after a few months, my acne was gone. I did get a few pimples every now and then.  Then, 4 years ago, I moved from Germany to California and I started to break out a little bit.

With no health insurance, I went to see a dermatologist and got a lotion prescribed that I used. By the way, it was 100$! I didn’t see any changes, so I stopped using this crème and my skin got eventually better. A few months ago, maybe 4 months ago, I started to break out again. I wasn’t sure why, so I looked through my make up things. I really thought it was my ELF powder that I bought for a dollar because that was all I used on my face. I threw it away and waited for my acne to go away. Unfortunately, it got worse. I was really frustrated and stressed, which didn’t help at all, but rather made it EVEN WORSE!

From what I learned about acne, it could be because of:

  • Bad diet.
  • Stress.
  • Not washing your face.
  • A product you use.
  • Due to hormone changes.
  • Clogged pores.
  • Oily skin.
  • Touching your face with dirty fingers.

I was thinking to myself what causes MY ACNE. I figured that I had a little bit of everything I listed above. I started to eat healthy, tried not to stress anymore, and started to wash my face every night. It’s really hard NOT to stress when you have so much going on in your life.

Anyway, I am now seeing results. I never really ate fruits and vegetables before, but I had to change if I wanted my skin to look nice. I am eating an apple everyday and sometimes a banana or some other vegetable. I try to distract myself, so I don’t have time to stress or be depressed.

Four weeks ago, I started to use this lotion/crème from the dermatologist. It really dried out my skin, but that is the process of getting rid of all the dirt and the acne. My skin peeled so bad I never looked worse in my life! I heard that you’re not allowed to put any other face lotion on, but I did, I had to. My face was peeling like crazy! I wish I had a picture of how my face looked like not too long ago, but I don’t.

My face now looks so much better, unfortunately I am left with a lot of scars, I wish and pray to go away in the future. I get pimples sometimes when I eat too much chocolate, but chocholate ON YOUR FACE is amazing for your skin, but slowly, my face is getting better and better.


My personal tip for you to get rid of your acne is that eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Try not eating foods that are oily because it can cause acne. Make sure to wash your face every night and every morning. Do not touch your face. I do that all the time and I pick on my face without even knowing. Its really bad because our fingers are not the cleanest at all times. If you notice that your acne gets worse after using a new product, immediately stop using this product. DON’T STRESS! It just makes everything worse I promise. If all this doesn’t help in getting rid of your acne, please see a dermatologist.

  1. good for you that your acne’s getting better…my skin is similar. i break out 2-3 times in a month normally…but i can handle it. lately it’s become a real horrible nightmare with too much acne on my face n it refuses to go away. one subsides n another pops up. they are all leaving red blemishes behind! no i dea what to do. diet, water, everythings fine…not sure where i am going wrong. 🙁

    1. maybe your stressing over the pimples and its just getting worse BECASUE you are stressing ? just be positiv and think tomorow it will stop but you really have to belive in it .

        1. ohhh that makes sense ! try talking yourself into not stressing over these exams. it worked for me. i kept telling myself ”i dnt need to stress over this.”

    i agree wid u completely dat we must incorporate fruits and vegetables in our daily diet…. back wen i was in colg, i wud carry an apple wid me everyday and i remember my skin was best that time…. i got to start this again now O:) O:)

    And I cant agree to you more… Stress is definitely one of the major reasons…
    Whenever I am going through a bad time…my skin also reacts…N i think..OH NO… :waaa: :waaa: NOT AGAIN…I have enough problems…

    Also,,i have this bad habbit of touching my face…especially during this time of the year,,when skin becomes very flaky…its very irritating…I got to stop this …

    1. haha thank you hun. you are blessed with an amazing skin. im being serious. it looks flawless even without any make up on. right now i just woke up and my skin feels so good. i dont have any pimples anymore. im eating a mini apple everyday. mabye u can do the same thing. the best time to do taht is when u watch a movie. because you dont even realize your eating something healthy because you are so into the movie 🙂

  7. You are right Sahar,fruits are very essential for our skin . I have been taking fruit juices daily since a month because of my bad health and it has actually helped my skin too .
    Me too dont have acne now..but scars still haunting me 😐 😐

    Ive read a lot about sesame oil helping cure and prevent acne due to its oil pulling properties.

    Sesame oil has the ability to attract and trap toxins that are soluble in oil. This detoxification of the skin can be done by applying warm sesame oil to the skin, let it stay for around 15 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water without using any soap.

    1. since i have oily skin i would NOT want to put any kind of oil in my face because it can cause me to break out even more. but what i would also recommend is sea salt or green tea oil. this green tea oil is not even oily and once u put it on your face you feel it killing all the bacterias. but it has a horrible scent. i might make a review on this 🙂

        1. yes i have and i honestly cant tell you if it works for me or not. like i said i changed so many things that i cant tell you WHAT made it get better. but yesterday night i put a green tea acne mask on my face for 15 min and washed it off and today when i woke up my face felt so amazing!!! since the past 3 days my acne is been getting sooo much better. when i touched my face this mordning it felt like i had not a single pimple on my face. i havent felt this way in MONTHS!

  9. almost my story sahar. the only difference is i had flawless normal skin till i was 23……thn suddenly it started behaving oddly n turned combination and i’ve to take really good care to avoid any break outs which are so frequent these days.

    i completely agree wid u abt the reasons n their solution. i also make it a point to have green vegetable, fruits n salads every single day n it has helped me immensely.

    1. yea your right . i felt the same way. i was too lazy to drink water and to eat fruits. BUT my face looked so horrible that i HAD TO change. i still dont like vegatables and fruits but wehat i do is i put in in front of me while im watching tv and automaticcally i grab it and eat it 🙂 try using acne mask twice a week you can get them in the drugsttores 🙂

I have been suffering from acne recently and it’s turning me into a complete loony. :headbang: :yikes: Don’t stress too much though (even though it’s hard not to!) because somehow, I have noticed that the less I bother about pesky pimples, they less frequent they become. 😀 😀 BTW, if you don’t like vegetables and fruit too much, why not make a juice out of them and drink it in one gulp like a medicine? It’s easier that way. And don’t let it affect your self esteem. You’re pretty! :woot: :woot:

I so agree. a healthy diet and good hygiene ensures that half the battle`s won. and medications prescribed by derm can only work to its optimum abilities,considering the rest of those things are in order. salicyclic acid and benzoyl peroxide ointments help – but always check with your dermatologist before slathering them on 😀 i love this article,wish i came across it a year earlier,when i too had no clue as to how to tackle breakouts from the root of the problem :thumbsup:
