Hello guys,

Sharing with you all a step-by-step tutorial on hiding scars and blemishes with makeup and also will tell you on how to achieve a dewy and natural finish with makeup.
How To Hide Acne Scars and Blemishes with Makeup

Step 1: Moisturise your face with a suitable moisturiser according to your skin type, do not forget to use an eye cream around the eyes to reduce puffiness and lines.  In this tutorial, I have used L’Oreal Paris perfect whitening toner and moisturiser for the face and Vichy Ideal White Eye Cream.

Step 2 : Apply a makeup primer all over the face to prepare the base for makeup and to make sure your makeup stays in place all day long and also to keep oiliness at bay.  Here, I have applied MAC Prep and Prime Skin Base Visage Primer.

Step 3:  Before using a concealer on pigmented and blemished areas, apply a color corrector so as to reduce the usage of amount of concealer to reduce the intensity of darkness and pigmentation. Usually, a peach corrector works miracles on Indian skin tones.  In this tutorial, I have used MAC Color Corrector (Burnt coral shade).

Step 4:  Over the areas that we have used the colour corrector, use a concealer one shade darker than the skin tone to cover up and blend well using the shade closest to the skin tone. Once you have concealed, use a foundation shade that’s closest to the skin tone and blend all over the face using a stippling brush to give a blended finish. Products used in this step are MAC Studio Finish Concealer IN NW35 mixed with NC 42  and Studio Fix Foundation in NC 40.

Step 4:  Since contouring and highlighting is the trend of the season, you could choose to use different shades of powder to create a polished contour highlight look.  For example, on the T zone area of the face, I have used a shade lighter to the skin tone to highlight the area and used two shades darker powder on the jawline, forehead, and below cheekbones. Make sure you blend well so that no harsh lines are visible. Products used here are MAC Studio Finish Powder Foundations in the shade NC 35 for highlight and NC 45 for contour.

Step 5:  Choose a highlighter/illuminator to get a dewy finish. I have used Benefit Moon Beam on the cheekbones and T-zone area.

Step 6:  Apply a bronze eyeshadow over the eyelid and line your eyes using a gel liner so as to define the eyes. Also, use an eyelash curler and apply coats of mascara on the top and bottom lashes to give the eyes some dimension. I have used NYX bronze eye pigment, MAC eyelash curler, MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara, and Inglot Gel Liner.

Step 7:  Use a peachy tone blush on the apple of the cheeks.  I have used Peachy from MAC and a little bit of Super Orgasm blush from NARS.

Step 8:  Condition the lips and line the lips with a lip liner and top it with a gloss that would complement your skin tone. I have used MAC lip liner in Soar topped with a pink lip gloss from MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus collection.

So, here’s how you can achieve an evening look that would look natural and dewy and hide your blemishes and scars also.
