1. Black walnuts:
Black walnuts can be used to have a much deeper and darker brown shade. They are well-known to stain anything that comes in their way.
How to use: Take black walnut powder and water in the ratio of 4:3. If you take 4 tablespoons of black walnut powder, then add 3 cups of water to make a solution. Pour this over your hair to saturate them and wear a shower cap. Let it sit for 10-30 minutes. Later, shampoo and condition your hair.
2. Black tea:
Black tea can be used to provide a lighter brunette tint to your hair. Caffeine in the black tea stimulates the hair growth while antioxidants strengthen the hair follicles really well.
How to use: Strongly brew an appropriate amount of black tea and let it cool. Pour the black tea over your hair to saturate them. Wear a shower cap and allow it to sit on your hair for an hour. Wash it off and shampoo, if required. Repeat this process with every shower, and you will see a difference in a week or two.
3. Cocoa powder:
For more darker highlights, you can opt for the cocoa powder. It will boost up the colour of your hair, giving them a deeper and richer brown tint.
How to use: Mix cocoa with water to make a thick paste. Add a little amount of cinnamon to it as well. Apply this over your desired strands and let it sit for 30 minutes or more. Later, wash it off and shampoo, if required.
For Blonde Highlight:
Honey is popularly known to lighten our skin, and it can do the same for our hair also. It moisturises your hair along with lightening them naturally.
How to use: Take 4 parts of honey and one part of apple cider vinegar. Mix both the ingredients well and apply over the required areas on wet hair. If you want to cover your whole hair, then pour the mixture on your wet hair and work with your fingers like you would do with your shampoo and conditioner. The hair must be wet for the honey to do its work and then, wear a shower cap. Let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Later, condition your hair.
2. Chamomile Tea:
Chamomile tea can wonderfully lighten your hair, and it does make them look soft and subtle. The chamomile tea works in a gradual way, but you can definitely see your hair getting lightened with every rinse.
How to use: Strongly brew an appropriate amount of chamomile tea and let it cool at the room temperature. Now, pour the tea all over your hair or just a few strands, according to your choice. Let it dry for 30 minutes and protect your hair by using SPF. Later, wash your hair and condition them.
It is one of the most common ways that has been around to lighten the hair. When the citric acid present in the lemon gets the sunlight, it opens up the hair cuticles that let the pigments to lift up. This way, it helps in lightening the hair colour.
How to use: Take few lemons and squeeze the juice out of them and strain the juice. Add an equal amount of water to dilute it. Pour the mixture into a clean and sterilised spray bottle. Now, you can use a cotton ball or a toothbrush or spray the lemon juice onto specific areas or you can apply it all over your hair. After applying lemon juice, let it dry for 30 minutes and don’t forget to wear an SPF. Later, shampoo and condition your hair very well.
For Red Highlights:
1. Rooibos tea:
Rooibos tea can help in providing a red tint to your hair. It makes your hair softer while adding a natural tint. This tea provides a lot of nourishment to your hair and keeps it healthy and shiny.
How to use: Brew 2-3 tea bags of rooibos tea in a cup of water. Let it cool and then, pour over your hair. Let your hair enjoy this tea for around 20 minutes and then, cleanse your hair with a mild shampoo.
2. Beetroots with carrot:
Beetroot and carrot can be used for providing a darker red tone to your hair.
How to use: Take a half cup of beetroot and carrot juice each. Soak your wet hair in the mixture of juice and let it sit for 30 minutes. Repeat the process to get a darker tone. To maintain the colour, use it once in a week.
