Hope you all are enjoying the winter season but if proper care is not taken, winter can be really harsh on your skin. Your skin would start looking dull and dry and when you apply makeup on dry and parched skin, then it looks really bad.  You can follow a few simple tips and methods to keep your skin soft and smooth.  I am sharing some of the tips with you in this post:

How To Keep Your Skin Beautiful in Winters

    • Before bath, massage your body with olive or coconut oil for 15-20 minutes. You can use baby oil too. Massaging not only increases blood circulation, it makes your skin soft too.  Always make sure to take bath after 30-40 minutes because taking a shower immediately will leave your skin dehydrated. I am personally loving nalpamaradi thailam a lot these days.

    • Take special care of your neck and back area. Skin in that area becomes dark due to cold or over exposure to sun (everyone loves the warmth of sun on a chilly day). Use a mixture of lemon juice and milk in equal quantities on your neck and back area.  Also, try using a mixture of rose water, lemon juice and glycerin before taking bath. It lightens the complexion to a great extent. Do not forget to apply a good moisturizer later on.

    • Ubtan or body packs are very beneficial in winter. To make a good ubtan, mix 4 tbsp of raw milk in 2 tbsp of ground masoor daal. Use it 2-3 times a week before bath. For oily-skinned beauties, use conventional ubtan of besan (gram flour) and milk, add olive oil for moisturisation. These ubtans not only nourish your skin, they also make your skin radiant.  You can buy readymade ubtans also.
    • Before sleeping, clean your face and body (arms and legs) properly with tepid water with a few drops of lemon juice and then pat dry with a nice fluffy towel. Follow with a good body lotion. This will make your skin smooth and light.
    • Winter also means cracked heels.  Scrub your cracked heels while taking bath every day.  Once a week, dip your feet in warm water for 15-20 minutes. This will make your skin soft and then with a good scrubber get rid of scaly skin.  Follow with application of petroleum jelly or a good crack heal cream. Always keep your feet covered with socks for extra protection.
    • Beauties with sensitive skin have to take special care during winters.  Sometimes those with sensitive skin are not able to differentiate whether it’s only dryness or if it’s an allergic reaction that tends to occur in harsh weather.  Do consult a dermatologist if you notice such issues before it gets worse.
    • Do not take bath with very hot water, it rips off all the natural oils from the skin and makes the skin very dry.
    • Do not exfoliate your skin with very harsh scrubs and do not exfoliate it on a daily basis. Exfoliate your skin twice a week to get rid of dull and dry skin.  Also do not apply too much pressure during the scrubbing process as it strips out all natural oils making your skin dull. Dry skinned beauties can use milk cream after exfoliation to get soft skin.

  • Lips are the most sensitive part of our body and they need proper care as they become very dry due to cold winds. Now, here’s a quirky tip – it’s believed that applying some oil on the belly button can make your lips super soft, try and see for yourself 😛

  • For soft and smooth facial skin, massage your face with a few drops of vitamin E oil in your regular cream and apply.  Do not use summer moisturisers and creams as they are water based and do not provide nourishment for a longer time.
