Hello ladies,
I am sure many of you would love me for writing this post for you. And at the very beginning of the tutorial, I say thanks to all of you for your adulation. 🙂
The main reason I am coming up with DIYs (please note: my DIYs are the ones that work like ready made, ready to use products) is that I really want us, all of us, or atleast most of us, to move towards natural therapy. This has manifold benefits. One it leads to entrepreneurship that in turn eradicates unemployment, inflation and helps in improving Indian economy. Second, it makes our beauty industry regularized. And many more.
Okay, taking you away from economics and bringing you to the home made gel. We all are aware of the amazing beauty benefits of this wonder plant. I have been using Aloe Vera for sometime and then lately I decided to make a gel for myself that was also ready to use and could be stored.
This is super easy to make, very inexpensive and far better for skin than the many gels available in the market. Lets see how we can make it.
Ingredients:
Aloe vera plant, Vit. C powder, Vit. E capsule, Essential oil (optional)
Preparatory Steps:
1. Collect a few stems of Aloe Vera plant. I would say one long stem of two small stems are more than sufficient
2. If you have ascorbic acid powder, well and good. If not, grind vit C tablet and make it in powder form. I didn’t get abscorbic acid here so I went ahead with vit C tablet.
3. One or two vit E capsules depending on the quantity of the gel and also depends on how much vit E you can tolerate. I have a major problem with vit E capsule’s smell , so I kept it just to one.
4. Any essential oil. This is optional. I didn’t have essential oil so I went ahead with Aroma magic beauty oil
How to make:
1. Peel out the stem and take out the gel from the stem. Collect it in a blender.
2. Collect vit C powder and add it to the blender
3. Cut vit E capsule tip and add it to the blender as well
4. If you wish, add a few drops of essential oil in the blender
5. Blend it well.
6. Pour in a cute tub or jar and store in refrigerator.
7. This would come easily for months.
Few notes:
- I did good research on natural preservative and came to know that vit C and vit E are good natural preservatives. I have seen it myself as my body scrub is more than a month old and works very well even though I don’t store in fridge anymore.
- The final product would be a little liquid/fluid in nature. It may not be in the gel form as it is available in the markets. I think the reason for this is that either they add something to it or they drain its water.
- If you want it to be in solid form, do this – before taking out the pulp of Aloe Vera, hang it vertically. This way its water/fluid will drain out and you will get more gel like consistency.
- I didn’t do the drain part as I didn’t mind a liquid gel and also because I was not sure of its properties if I drained out the water.
- Some of you may find it difficult to blend it. I found it so tough to make a gel from the pulp. My Morphy Richards’ blender could not break it properly in gel so I did it manually.
- My gel is in orange color because like I said before I broke down chewable tablets and that was only for the purpose of preserving it naturally.
I hope you find it crazily easy to make and you try it out today itself!
I have been using it for more than a week and each time I apply it on my face, I fall in love with my creativity. 🙂
And last but not the least, many thanks to IMBB for making it a lovely platform for people like me to spread the message across. May IMBB reach newer heights each day! 🙂

super cool! i just apply aloe vera gel directly from leaf 🙂 adding vit c is superb! thank you
Yeah Parita.. I also applied it directly but this way it gives better results and I dont have to pluck it each time. I am glad you liked it. 🙂
what a great idea… will save me money as i love to use aloe vera for everything… u used chewables on your skin!!?????? Didnt u turn orange Surabhi? I just made a sample now with normal white ones..(Celin Tablets)..looks greenish white.. 🙂 Awesome DIY…Thank you..
he he he.. naah Ife.. it looks orange though but when I apply it on the face it comes out transparents.. 😀
thanks dear………….
My pleasure!
surabhi,
ur idea of preserving thru vitamins is good.
yes grinding the pulp is a little difficult in blender especially if the quantity is less.
but if we grind more pulp it snot that hard.
I used grind a bit more quantity and apply to my hair+ my moms and dads hair, and my bros hair.
it makes hair super soft.
Yeah.. I realized that quantity was the problem. You apply aloe vera to hair? Cool.. I can try it too..
yeah surabhi,
try it. you u not be dissappointed, but the boring part in this is peeling the skin of aloe vera.
and a tip here is put that blended pulp in freezer or just fridge up till gets cooled and apply to clean hair and while washing it off just rinse with cool water (as hair is already clean) and later use a conditioner (if needed)
it is gives a v cooling effect.
let me remind my grand mom who used to sugar coat a small piece of peeled aloe vera and made me and my bro swallow it in empty stomach. During our summer visits to her place.
it would remove internal heat.
OMG such a long post
bahut acheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hi Aarti.. dear I am sorry I cant give you the name, but it is commonly available in the market so ask the chemist to give you abscorbic acid. That should do.
