How To Make BB Cream At Home

Hey girls,

I think I am getting addicted to DIYs. So, I was in the school café the other day with my friend and we were chatting over lunch, when suddenly we came to the topic about makeup bases and I complained to her about how lazy I am to put on foundation every day and how it feels heavy on my face, but sadly, I have ran out of BB and CC creams and hadn’t had time to go out and get some. That’s when she told me about this mix. I was a little hesitant at first about this DIY, but after whipping it up and trying, it turned out to be a good DIY.

Ingredients you will need:

Procedure:

Step 1:

Get a container, any container will do and make sure it has a lid.

Step 2:

I have only made a small amount, but it’s up to you with how much you want to make. Squeeze some moisturizer into the container.  I would say squeeze an appropriate amount out, but not too much as it will make your BB cream oily and not too little because then you won’t get the moisturizing benefit that this step offers.  The moisturizer I have used is Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturizer.

Step 3:

Squeeze some sunscreen in to the mix. Make sure it’s the appropriate amount, again as too much makes the mixture oily and too little will make this step useless.  Sun protection is essential and this step is a must. You can use a normal sunscreen or a sunscreen with pigments in it.  It will be great if it was a waterproof sunscreen too. I wouldn’t recommend using tinted ones though. I also advice using one that is over SPF 30+ UVB with UVA PA +++ protection. The sunscreen that I am using is L’oreal Paris UV Perfect 12 H Longlasting UV Protector with SPF 50+ UVB and UVA PA+++.

Step 4:

Throw a little primer in there for a long lasting effect. This will help your BB Cream stay put all day. You can use a primer according to your skin type and the results will turn out the same. I’m using Etude House’s Face Conditioning Primer with SPF 25 PA++.

Step 5:

This is the step where you are in control. The shade of the BB Cream will depend on the shade of your foundation. You can make it as light as possible or as dark as possible. I used the L’oreal Paris Le Teint True Match Super Blendable Liquid with SPF 17 PA++ in the shade “N1 N*de Ivory.” I am not too sure about tinted moisturisers, but you guys can experiment and tell me how it goes.

Step 6:

Grab a Q-tip or cotton swab and mix it all together really well. Mix it like you are baking a cake. After that, throw away the cotton swab or Q-tip and you are left with your very own BB cream.

This BB cream is actually very lightweight on the skin and doesn’t feel heavy at all. It’s not oily and easy to blend into your skin. If you are paranoid about the sunscreen part, you can just wear a layer of sunscreen underneath.  Also, in comparison to the Garnier BB Miracle Skin Perfector, it is very lightweight and gives a natural finish on the skin with a bit of a dewy look.

If you don’t like the dewy look, you can just throw on some mattifying powder on top. It also doesn’t clog pores and BB cream doesn’t clump.  I would say that it’s great for everyday use and it’s very hydrating on the skin because of the moisturizer and hydrating primer. Also with the addition of the primer, it stays put all day.  Full credit to my friend for telling me about this mix.
