I think every time I travel, I learn a thing or two about skin care and makeup. Mainly because there are limitations and you have to do the best of what’s available to you. Also, these tips can be used by anyone who is looking to make their makeup last for hours and hours. Tested and tried many times by me and I can’t wait to share. 🙂
The only and the only trick to make your makeup lats is – LAYERING. Long staying, waterproof etc products are fabulous but they also wear off when you have to go hours without touchups or you are moving in different climate conditions. I layered my products like pro and my makeup used to look fresh even after long tiring days of endless walkings and sight seeings.
Face Makeup : I forgot to show the sponge but I picked up a makeup sponge by Barbara Hofmann and it was brilliant. Beauty Blender and Real Techniques sponges are brilliant as well. So the layering was something like this :
Primer –>a layer of foundation applied with damp beauty sponge–> let it set for a few seconds–> another layer applied with a beauty sponge –> cream blush–> set it all with powder.
And trust me, nothing gets cakey or heavy because you are actually using thin layers of products and blending them all out on your skin. If done right, it would all end up looking like your skin. You may go heavy or light depending on how you want the coverage of your foundation on your skin.
Concealer : Corrector (to get rid of dark undertones) – > concealer (to add light to your under eyes) > set everything with loose / compact powder
Blush : I doubled my lipsticks as cream blushes and used powder blush on top. 😀 So I didn’t have to carry cream + powder blushes , plus layering prevented my blushes from fading or getting patchy.
Eyes : This I always do at home as well since I do a lot of cat-eye eyeliner.
Draw a rough line on your upper lash line with pencil liner and then go over it with a liquid eyeliner. If you wear kajal, smudge it a little using a pencil brush and some brown eyeshadow. This would prevent your liners from smudging or fading.
I used two mascaras- one for lengthening and one for volumizing because I have no patience to use false lashes. So use two mascaras. 😀
For lips : Always use lip pencil-> apply a layer of lipstick-> pat it with tissue and then apply another layer. And try to get rid of flakes on your lips with a tooth brush + vaseline or a sugar lip scrub..
Now the makeup breakdown of all the looks I did. 🙂
