How To Prepare Herbal Coconut Oil at Home

Hello IMBB!!!

It has been a long time since I have written something for you all.  I was heck busy coordinating everything from office to home to guests. Finally, I have some time to do my favorite thing aka “writing.”  We all are so much concerned about our hair and can probably do every possible thing to keep them healthy.

One thing I religiously use to ensure the health of my hair is coconut oil.  Some are allergic to it, but for me, this is the best thing and my hair just loves it. What if we can mix a few more things to increase the efficacy of an already wonderful thing!!!! It will do miracles.  I experimented with my coconut oil some time back and voila it became even more fantastic.  I will be sharing the method which I followed to prepare the above-mentioned oil. This oil will help you get rid of dandruff, hair fall and premature graying. You can store it for a long time too.

How To Prepare Herbal Coconut Oil at Home

Things you will need:

  • 1 litre of pure coconut oil.
  • 50 gm of fenugreek seeds, coarsely grounded.
  • 50 gm of amla fruit, chopped (Indian Gooseberry).
  • 50 gm of aloe vera gel.
  • 50 gm of green curry leaves.
  • 50 gm of sesame seeds.
  • 50 gm of black pepper, coarsely grounded.

Other Things Needed:

  • One thick bottomed pan.
  • Strainer.
  • A big jar or bottle to store the oil.

Steps To Prepare the Oil:

Take the pan and pour around ¼ th of the coconut oil into it and let it get heated for some time. Put the sesame seeds and let them crackle for some time. Now, add the green curry leaves and stir the mixture. Please be careful as the leaves should not burn away. Keep the flame on low for this. Now, add the chopped amla and aloe vera gel and mix the contents well.

mucilage

Let, it simmer for some time. If the quantity of the oil seems to be less, add some more, so that it’s compatible for the contents we are adding. Now, add the coarsely grounded fenugreek seeds and black pepper corns. Mix well and let it heat for some time on low flame made.

Black Pepper

After 15 minutes or when the ingredients start turning black, mix the remaining oil in the pan and heat on low flame for about 1 hour. This will help the oil absorb all the goodness of the ingredients. After an hour, switch off the heat and let the mixture cool.

Gooseberry

Once the mixture has cooled down, strain the oil carefully into the jar and store it. It depends on you whether you want to keep the oil with the residue or you want to strain it out.

Curry Leaves

I store the oil without straining. The residue settles at the bottom of the jar and the oil comes up. I just take out the amount I need for massage every time, heat it on a low flame, and apply it to my hair.

This coconut oil with regular use will make your hair shiny and long. The continuous use will remove the problem of dandruff. It is advised to use this daily before sleeping, but that is not possible, so I use it every alternate day before hitting the bed and shampoo the next day.  I just use my regular shampoo and I am all sorted 🙂

  1. Hi Pallavi! Wont it be easier for the contents to mix in the oil if the dry ingredients r powdered and the wet ones grated or blended ? Just Curious 🙂
