Hey beauties,

Monsoon, the season of hair fall. “Rain Is Not Only Drops Of Water It Is The Love Of Sky For Earth, They Never Meet Each Other But Sends Love This Way”. So, enjoy the love of nature.

It is monsoon here in India and I love monsoon so much. The season of love. It is my favourite season and I just want to enjoy this fully. Enjoying rain, rain dance, pakora parties, hangouts, shopping, but what about our skin and hair?? :O Does it love monsoon too? The answer is no. We have to face disastrous hair fall and thinning of hair in monsoon because of the humidity and acid in rain, which is not accepted by our hair. So, here I am up with some tips to give special love to your hair during monsoons.

Hot Oil Treatment:

The hot oil treatment is really important for your hair even in winters and summers because it works like food for your hair. You can use coconut oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, castor oil, avocado oil, argan oil to massage it in your hair and keep it for minimum 2 hours then shampoo and condition as usual. Use this at least once a week. This treatment will give extra nourishment to your hair.

Strengthening Shampoo and conditioner:

Due to humidity, the hair starts to fall and hence, it needs extra strength. So, try to use strengthening shampoos and conditioners, which are available in the market. Because of humidity, the hair may get oily and feel dirty so wash your hair thrice a week maximum or every alternative day to keep them clean. Use a bit strong conditioner because your hair needs extra conditioning in monsoons and then follow up with a serum.

Combs:

In monsoon, there is a lot of humidity and it can get very windy. Both these factors can lead to tangling of hair. Hence, keeping a wide tooth comb with you is really important if you are carrying open hair. Avoid using plastic combs in monsoon season because plastic combs creates static charge and hair gets thinner due to the charge use
wooden combs because they will not create static charge.

Deep Conditioning:

Deep condition once a week is very important in monsoon season because your hair needs that extra condition so you can buy deep conditioning masks, which are easily available in the market or you can use some home made hair masks like:

Egg and Aloe Vera Mask:
Ingredients:
1 egg, 4 tbsp aloe Vera, 1 tbsp castor oil, 1 tbsp olive oil.

Method:
Mix all of the ingredients and apply liberally to your scalp and the leftover to hair length and keep it for 45 mins, then wash with shampoo and condition as usual.

To eliminate the smell of egg you can add half lemon or essential oils like lavender, peppermint, Rosemary.

Fenugreek Mask:
Ingredients:
1 cup of fenugreek seeds

Method:
Soak the fenugreek seeds in water for 6 hours. Then, grind it and apply this mask to scalp for 45 minutes this will help in strengthen, hair growth, and thickening of hair.

Another Method:
Grind the fenugreek seeds into powder and mix it with coconut oil and use this as your hair mask for 30 mins.

Coconut Milk Mask:
Use coconut milk as a hair mask for 20-25 mins.

Exfoliation:

Due to humidity and wind there is excess buildup on our scalp which slows down the hair growth and leads to hair fall. Like our skin our scalp also needs exfoliation, once in 15 days. There are scalp scrubs available in the market, some DIYs are here.

Brown Sugar Scrub:
Ingredients:
2 tbsp Brown sugar, 4-5 drops of Lavender essential, half tbsp Olive oil/ coconut oil, 1 tbsp Shampoo, half tbsp water.

Method:
Mix all the ingredients then clean your hair with shampoo (do not use conditioner) then flip your head down and start applying the scrub to damp hair. Massage your scalp in soft circular motions for 5-10 mins., then rinse with water and condition as usual. Use this scrub only in the shower because it can get messy .

Clarifying Scrub:
Ingredients:
Half tbsp baking Soda, 1 tbsp shampoo, 5-6 drops leander oil, 1 tbsp Water.

Method:
Mix all the ingredients then clean your hair with shampoo (do not use conditioner), then start applying the scrub to damp hair. Massage your scalp in soft circular motions for 5-10 mins., then rinse with water and condition as usual.

Deep Cleaning Scrub:
Ingredients:
1-2 tbsp sea salt, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp olive oil.

Method:
Mix all the ingredients then clean your hair with shampoo (do not use conditioner), then start applying the scrub to damp hair. Massage your scalp in soft circular motions for 5-10 mins., then rinse with water and condition as usual.

Hairstyle:

Hairstyle plays an important role in your hair care regimen. I would suggest you to carry your hair, either in buns or braids. Buns may give you scalp pains but braids are always your best friend. You can always accessorise braids with different pins, hair ties etc. or make dutch braids, regular braids, french braids, messy braids. It is important to keep your hair tied because it will lead to lesser hair fall and less split ends and your hair will not get messy due to humidity and rain.

Diet:

Zinc, Iron, Protein, Omega 3, Omega 6, Omega 9, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin K, Biotin and the list goes on. You can also take supplements of Omega 3 and biotin. They are very helpful in controlling hair fall and speed up hair growth. Before taking any supplements please consult your doctor because these supplements may not suit everyone.
