Every person in this world is different. They have different habits, preferences, and body chemistry, mental and emotional thoughts. I have heard that even monozygotic twins (identical twins) do vary in many aspects. As such, how can a fragrance preferred by one be liked by another as well. I am reviewing a perfume today, which was also a gift from a relative of mine. Actually, I don’t like to be given perfumes as gifts, except by someone who knows me and my tastes very well. Anyway, I accepted it with polite thanks, and was actually dreading the opening of this perfume. But one sniff of this perfume, and I was indeed blown away.
About the Perfume:
The Little Black Dress of fragrances, Hugo Deep Red is a fruity aroma with floral undertones. A blend of sandalwood, ginger flower and blood orange creates a bold, yet feminine scent. Deep Red is aimed at strong and active women. This fruity-floral aroma opens with notes of black currant, pear, tangerine and blood orange. The fresh and mouth-watering opening is followed by ginger leaves, freesia and hibiscus accords of the heart. Woodsy sensual finish is composed of sandalwood, Californian cedar, vanilla and musk. It was created in 2001 by Alain Astori and Beatrice Piquet.
I received this as a gift with the price tag removed, but online, the price varies between Rs. 2500/- to Rs.3500/- for 90 ml bottle. It is also available in 30 ml and 50 ml bottles.
My Experience with Hugo Boss Deep Red Eau De Parfum:
The EDP version which I received contained 90 ml of product. It is housed in a black box with a blood red color picture of the bottle on it. The bottle inside is a long cylindrical one, with a tapered mouth and broad base. It is deep wine red in color, made of frosted glass, and has a silver color lid which has to be pulled open. I do not particularly like the shape of the bottle, as I find it to be too masculine.
I received the perfume nearly 8 years back, and I do use it occasionally even now, and there has been no change in the quality or the fragrance. This perfume is definitely for the colder months, specially the evenings. It might be a little too much for the summers, or for day times. It is seductive and has a sexy character. It is supposed to be a mix of fruity and floral fragrances, but on me, I find the fruity fragrance to be dominating. In a way, it does remind me of Dior Hypnotic Poison range of perfumes, only a slight fruitier.
The perfume is not for girls, it is definitely for women. It is very feminine, alluring, soft, sensual, sexy and seductive, not at all overpowering. It lasts for 5-6 hours on me, which I find is just about adequate. At first, I get the definite sniff of berries, which does not last long, and then it turns musky to vanilla smell. Then, it dries down to a more subtle fragrance, which also does not last long on me as long as I would have liked.
Pros of Hugo Boss Deep Red Eau De Parfum:

- Seductive smell.
- Fruity-floral fragrance.
- Supposed to be long lasting (doesn’t on me).

Cons of Hugo Boss Deep Red Eau De Parfum:
- I don’t like the shape of the bottle.
- Glass bottle, might break if not careful.
- Does not last too long on me.
- Not suitable for day time, summery use.
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Hugo Boss Deep Red Eau De Parfum?
Yes, I recommend this perfume to all sophisticated women in the winter months. No, I will not need to purchase it. I have had it for 8 years, and it will last me a long, long time. Deep Red is a warm feminine sexy, sophisticated smell, definitely for the colder winter evenings, with a glass of champagne and some strawberries by the side. It’s a scent that is present, but that never gets too overpowering. This is perfect for women who exude sophistication and confidence. I so love this scent. It is really sexy, seductive and ultra-feminine.
