Illamasqua Matte Veil Review

Hello ladies!

Today, I am very excited to review my first Illamasqua product, which is the Illamasqua Matte Veil. Illamasqua launched their Hydra Veil with great success. People with dry skin have made it their HG product. Not to alienate people with oily/combination skin, they’ve introduced their Matte Veil. Read on to find out if it did as good.

Ingredients:

Illamsqua Matte Veil

Made in Thailand.

My Experience with Illamasqua Matte Veil:

The Matte Veil comes in a tub packaging. I would have preferred it in the pump dispenser packaging; but since this has a cute little scoop to pick product, it is not unhygienic. The scoop is given a place to rest on top.

Every single time I open the lid, I feel like eating it. 😛 It looks like the delicious dessert that makes you want to skip the entire meal, so you can get to it first.

It smells a little like vanilla, a little like yogurt, but surely not like vanilla yogurt 😛 . I take a scoop of Matte Veil for each use and apply it evenly over my face before using a primer. I use a primer after this only because this does nothing to minimize pore size. If open pores are not a problem, you can skip using a primer. It gives an even base to my foundation and also helps my foundation stay a tad bit longer.

My skin is instantly matte after applying Matte Veil. It remains so for the next 5-6 hours. After 6 hours, I notice oiliness on my T-zone. Skin starts to get shiny after that. The Matte Veil does live up to its claims of providing perfectly matte skin, but not for the entire day. It controls shine for a decent amount of time after which you’ll surely have to use a blotting tissue.

This product will definitely not disturb dry skin. It does make the skin feel a little tight, but that’s about it. It has no drying effect on the skin and hence people with dry skin should not have a problem in using this.

Pros of Illamasqua Matte Veil:

  • Keeps skin matte for a decent 6 hours.
  • Makes foundation application easy and even.
  • Preps skin.
  • Is not drying.
  • Smells great.
  • Smoothens and softens skin.

Cons of Illamasqua Matte Veil:

  • Expensive.
  • Does not blur pores.

Would I repurchase Illamasqua Matte Veil?

The Matte Veil is a product that I’ll continue to use, but it isn’t the mattifying miracle I was looking for. My hunt for a mattifying product still continues and until then, this should be my favorite.
