Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss – Tantrum Review

Product Purchased By IMBB

Hola Beauties,

Today, I am here to review a lip gloss from the brand Illamasqua. I had heard a lot of raves about this brand from Youtube beauty gurus and just recently, when I was strolling through a nearby mall, I came across the store; I was really very happy.  I just entered and checked out some products, but did not buy any. So now, I have got this wonderful opportunity to try out their lip gloss.  Tag along and get to know more about the product.

My Take on Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss – Tantrum:

This is my first lip gloss which I really like, I am not a lip gloss person and I have only tried them from the L’Oreal Glam Shine range, which did not please me very much. But this product has really made up my mind to spent out more on lip glosses.

Packaging:  The lip gloss comes in an outer cover black in colour with cream imprints and all the necessary details regarding the product and there is a small open space in the front portion of this cover through which the colour of the product can be seen clearly. The liquid gloss comes in simple plastic transparent tube with a black screw cap with “Illamasqua” written on it. The logo of this brand is quite unique and beautiful.

Colour:  The colour is described by the brand as a deep berry pink, which is exactly the shade, a pretty plumy berry pink.  But it looks like a deep purple from outside the tube, I actually didn’t want to try out the shade when I saw it in the  tube, but the SA told me to try it out, so I swatched it on my hand and it was such a beautiful plumy berry pink. When I searched their online website, the colour shown was very misleading, it looked like a deep purple, but fortunately, there was a video showing the true colour.

Texture:  It feels like super smooth creamy gel that glides on your lips without any tug or pull.  It’s a pure delight to wear. The applicator brush of the lip gloss is a bit long and narrow like that of liquid eye liners but a tad bit thicker.  When I saw the applicator, it was like “how can I apply with this, it’s so thin?” But when I applied, I could see how beautiful it was, the narrow brush spreads sideways and adjusts according to the thickness of your lips and provides an easy application. It’s super easy to outline your lips and then fill it accordingly, no actually you can line and fill at the same time. The smooth texture of the gloss provided further ease in application.  It’s not a very lightweight gloss, you certainly feel that you have applied something on your lips.

Finish:  The finish is super duper glossy, your luscious pout will be the center of attraction, that’s for sure. It has a sheer finish, but still looks lovely on lips, it will definitely look different on pigmented lips, it will be a more deeper shade. There is a very light frosty touch to this shade which is not easily visible. My main love for this is the non-stickiness of this gloss. I really had a tough time with sticky L’Oreal glosses. It also did not highlight any dry patches or settle into lip lines, it stays beautifully and does not dry out your lips. I feel it actually moisturizes my lips and keeps it supple.

Pigmentation and Coverage:  It is a sheer lip gloss, but the pigmentation is quite amazing.  Since it’s a dark shade, the colour really shows up on your lips and brightens your face. In my LOTD’s, the intensity of the colour is really seen.  On the pigmented parts of my lips, the shade looks darker and on the other areas, it’s a bit light. It has a very good coverage also, a single swipe is enough to bring the beauty of the colour and there is no need to build up the colour. It does not increase the intensity of the colour even if you build up, it only gives more shine. It can also be applied in a light manner if you prefer.  When I want a subtle look, I usually apply it on my lower lip and purse my lips and then correct the corners.

Longevity:  The staying power of the gloss is not very great especially if you have frequent snacks or drinks. It tends to transfer on to everything your lips come in contact with, so naturally the intensity of the colour fades but still it does not fully leave your lips bare, there is a light pink sheen left. Without any snacks or drinks, it stays up to 3 to 4 hours.  There is no feathering or bleeding, it just stays put. The high glossy shine also remains till the intake of water or food.

Fragrance:  It has a very yummy berry scent, so luscious that I feel like licking and totally love it. It really taunts your nose right after application, such an awesome scent.  This a very versatile universally flattering shade and every one can carry off this colour. It is very glossy, so that will  be a personal choice. I love this shade and I often wear this when I do light eye makeup.

Pros of Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss – Tantrum:

  • A beautiful plum berry colour that will suit all the complexions equally.
  • The liquid glides easily on your lips without any drag or pull to give a super glossy look.
  • The texture is like a smooth and creamy gel with a slight frosty finish.
  • Our lips tend to look full and plump due to the super glossy nature of the lip gloss.
  • The pigmentation of the gloss is quite decent considering it being a sheer lip gloss.
  • It provides full coverage in a single stroke which is quite awesome.
  • It does not accentuate dry patches or settle into lip lines and provides an additional moisturizing effect to keep your lips soft and supple.
  • The application gives an even finish and does not go streaky.
  • There is absolutely no stickiness to this gloss which is a big “yay” for me.
  • The applicator of the gloss is so convenient that it’s super easy to apply it.
  • The packing is simple and travel friendly.

Cons of Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss – Tantrum:

  • The finish of this lip gloss is super glossy which some might find it difficult to carry off.
  • The staying power is not impressive, especially if you take frequent meals or drinks.
  • It is not easy to layer the colour due to its high glossy finish, rather than increasing the intensity of the colour, it tends to bring more shine.
  • The colour is very misleading when seen through the tube.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5. I would recommend this shade to everybody because this colour is bound to suit every one irrespective of their skin tone.

Would I Repurchase Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss – Tantrum?

Not definitely, I am not a big fan of darker shades, but would like to try out lighter shades from the collection.
