Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Shower Cream Review

I am usually a shower gel person as opposed to a shower cream person, but I saw this on a supermarket shelf, and being fascinated by Japan so much, I picked it up.

Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Shower Cream

Product Description:
A nourishing combination of triple moisturising ingredients and uplifting fragrance, Japanese Spa shower cream transforms daily cleansing into an exquisite ritual. With green tea, famed in the Orient for its gentle cleansing properties, rice milk and fragrant jasmine.

My Experience with Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Shower Cream:

The first thing I noticed is the quaint milky rice-y colour of the cream. It’s like I can almost sense that it is full of rice milk. The formula is rich, thick and creamy.

The smell is quite mild, subtle, relaxing and pleasing – slightly rice-y and jasmine-y and not overpowering or artificial at all, and so I can layer it with a perfume from a different line afterwards. But I am not really taken to the Oriental world with the fragrance. I cannot smell any tea either, but yes, the bottle does remind me of some Japanese bathing ritual as per their claim.

Shower cream

It lathers really well with a loofah – a little goes a long way. Being thick, it doesn’t feel runny and just a few dollops gives as luxurious lather. It feels like you are rubbing wonderfulness into your skin. I also sometimes use it as a shaving cream because this has triple moisturising ingredients. And true to that claim, it doesn’t dry out my skin at all. My skin feels hydrated and silky soft. Since I started using this, I haven’t been reaching for my moisturiser as much. Woohoo!

Expensive shower gels are tricky –they run down the drain minutes after you lather them on. And so this was such a good buy, and such a big bottle for this price.

Pros of Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Shower Cream:

  • Rich, thick and creamy formula.
  • Mild, subtle, relaxing and pleasing smell.
  • Lathers really well.
  • A small amount is enough.
  • You get a big bottle for a cheap price.
  • Moisturizes the skin.

Cons of Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Shower Cream:

  • Contains SLS and parabens.

  1. I grew up using only Imperial Leather soap… the original version with the red, black and silver label. As I got older, they came out with the pink, blue and green versions… the smell of the original brings back memories! 🙂
