Importance of Changing Your Facial Cleansers

Importance of Changing Your Facial Cleansers

Hey girls,

You probably cleanse your face twice daily and I know that rotating cleansers may sound like a bad idea but depending on your skin, it might actually turn out to be beneficial. Warning before I go on, sensitive skin girls, this isn’t for you. I’m sorry. 🙁
Importance of Changing Your Facial Cleansers

If you use a facial cleanser for a long period of time, your skin will actually get used to it however rotating facial cleansers may actually help to clear up your skin and even unclog your pores.
Say if you find a basic gentle cleanser or a cleanser that works for you use it. But at the same time you can use a facial cleanser that targets to specific problems like dry skin, acne-prone skin, break-prone skin, large pores and etc. I’d say that it’s best you choose a cleanser that targets the specific problem of yours and use it together with your basic cleanser. As an example, if you suffer from clogged pores, you should rotate your basic cleanser with a cleanser that contains salicylic acid to unclog your pores.
Why should you use your basic cleanser also when rotating facial cleansers? Your basic cleanser will actually be more gentle on your skin and it’ll soothe your skin and prevent any irritation from your other facial cleanser. What about the other cleanser? The cleanser will target your other problems and also help in healing and fixing your skin.

I actually rotate between two cleansers. I use Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash as a basic cleanser to gently cleanse my skin, purify my skin and keep my breakouts at bay. I rotate that cleanser with the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash as I tend to suffer from dry patches and dehydrated skin around my nose and chin area.

I use the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash as a morning facial wash to remove the overnight mask from the night before and to cleanse my skin and prep my skin for makeup application. Before bed, I’ll use the Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash to gently cleanse my skin. I do this daily, however you don’t have to rotate as often as me. I’ll show 2 alternatives of how often you can rotate your facial cleansers so take your pick.

How often to rotate your facial cleansers:

1. You can cleanse your skin with a facial cleanser that targets specific problems 3 nights a week and for the rest of the week, just use your basic cleanser to prevent any irritation or breakouts.
2. You can rotate between a facial cleanser that targets specific problems and a basic facial cleanser monthly.

I’d recommend rotating facial cleansers as I’ve been doing so for a few months already and my skin has never felt better. However we can’t avoid the bad side of things, you may breakout from rotating facial cleansers and if you do, stop doing so immediately and go back to just using the facial cleanser that works for you or your basic facial cleanser.

But remember girls, what works for you may not work for me and vice versa because our skin is different and it’ll react differently too. You can give this method a try and tell me how it goes.
Good luck girls! 🙂

  1. Actually rotating cleansers within a day makes a lot more sense. I practice that. I have acne prone skin and rotating cleansers makes sense since your skin needs are different at different points during the day. So I use something gentle on the morning which also sounds at killing bacteria and maintains optimum ph level, use something which cleanses well in the evening to remove sunscreen and dirt and before bed time use a glycolic acid based cleanser to do it’s work on my acne and blemish prone skin. It works amazingly.

  2. I am also a follower of this concept, changing facial cleanser..I swap between a whitening cleanser and a gentle cleanser..twice or thrice a week I will use whitening cleanser to get the advantage of whitening my skin. Whitening or acne-fighting cleanser is normally harsh to skin, so using it too much may not be good for long term.
