Indian Makeup and Beauty Updates : Revlon, Lakme, and Maybelline

I couldn’t resist the urge to check out the new Lakme launches. πŸ˜› So here’ is the report. As you can see the packaging is not as glamorous as it looks in the photo shopped pictures but surprisingly every thing is priced very decently. Also, everything is sealed this time and that is quite a relief. So, don’t buy the products if the seal is broken.
Lakme Lash Artist: Price Rs 225 (Indian Rupees)Β  The SA wasn’t sure whether it is a water proof mascara or how long would it stay on the eyes. Sigh!

I quite liked the brush. The short bristles would be able to cover every single eye lash.

Lakme Black Impact liners is a regular liner with a thin brush applicator. It is not super pigmented or the blackest black. The SA said that it wouldn’t crack, is water proof and has a lasting power of 5-6 hours.

Revlon has come up with its new range of liners called One Stroke defining eyeliner. Price Rs 490 (Indian rupees) The liners are super soft and creamy. You may smudge them within 30 seconds of application but after that they set. Exactly the same concept as Colorbar I Glide Eye Pencils.Β  These are available in 5 shades. Apart from the 3 shown in the pic, there are two shades in black and silver. Those were not available at the store as yet.

Maybelline has launched Dream Matte Powders.Β  Two shades available – Honey medium ( dark ) and Beige medium (light). These are oil free, don’t clog pores, dermatologist tested and give a matte finish. Guess would be prefect for people with oily skin.Β  Forgot the price. πŸ™ I think they were around Rs 380. Will confirm and let you know tomorrow. The powder is very silky and blended very well.

The packaging is very cute. Some with a slide on mirror and a sponge. Where you see a sponge in the pic, there is mirror beneath it.

  1. Revlon Liners..490??

How did you find them compared to Colorbar and Maybelline Rati?

And Lakme :struggle: showed its true colours..packaging made to look attractive haha

However attractive they pack, I am not going that way at all πŸ˜›

Would love to check out Maybelline Matte powder though..Yet to be seen here 😎

    1. I think colobar liners are excellent for the price we are paying. Wouldn’t buy these myself. πŸ™‚ Today I went out with hubby and he was disappointed to see the packaging. His reaction was surprizing because he rarely reacts to thing related to makeup. πŸ˜€

I quite liked the Maybelline powder. It was extremely silky to touch and it just blended so nicely. πŸ™‚

  2. SAs = pet peeve πŸ™ SIGH!!! I dont think Lakme can give us a waterproof mascara for peanuts πŸ™‚ wat do u say? Am I hallucinating or is the liner consistency really runny? I dont wanna bother abt Revlon eye pencils…wats with the pigmentation and the price???

Wish to try Dream Matte Mousse πŸ™‚

    1. Divija, the liner is quite runny. I know 490 for an eye pencil is a weird. Revlon always have funny pricing. Guess the company does not bother to study the market.

  3. Yup 490 for those pencils is a rip-off! Did u get the Lakme invisible foundation? N is that SPF 8?? 8?!!! πŸ˜€ .
Oh been wanting the Maybelline dream matte powder.
Do let us know how u find the Lakme mascara n liner

    β™₯xxβ™₯

    1. Cynthia, I did not get the liner or the mascara or the foundation. πŸ˜€ These are only the market updates. The only thing that I am looking at from Lakme is the glide on lip pencil. And yes it is SPF 8. πŸ˜›

  4. 490?? for what..?? the crappy pigmentation.!! I dont really like glide on pencils that much but id better buy a bourjois effet smoky pencil for Rs. 325 or a colorbar i glide for the same rather than buying these pencils for a whooping 490. Wow im still amazed and shocked.. what were they thinking.

Hey you dint updated the price for the invisible foundation. im liking it actually since the shades aren’t orangey, i might buy it.
But i’m equally liking the maybelline matte mousse powder (im already a fan of the matte mousse range), but to tell ya the truth i’ve never used powders on my face, even with my oily skin. i just dont like them. everything has a first so maybe this one is it. but just 2 sahdes thats really bad..

    1. No the pigmentation is okay but the pencils were so soft and breaking so much that the swatches weren’t coming out well. I glide pencils are extremely pigmented and much better than these.

Two shades is a small selection but may be they have one for you. Do check it out. πŸ™‚

  5. I just saw ur comment on the other post. im definitely buying the invisible foundation, Rs.185 is like very much ok.

  6. Revlon is a rip-off… They have always been overpriced…. I really won’t pay 490/- for an eye pencil…. Love the turquoise shade to death though… Should find it elsewhere asap…..

  7. I loved the tourquiose shade, but then 490 for an eye pencil…….is Revlon the only company with eye pencils….. :pissedoff:

    1. Loll!! Revlon always comes up with funny prices. I always end up buying stuff from a brand that is either more expensive than revlon or the one that is in a lower range. Do they have no clue about the market prices? ?:-)

  8. Yes..

I would also go for Bourjois Effet Smokey or Maybelline Vivid Smooth or Colorbar (only if they bring in fresh stock πŸ˜› )

Revlon seriously needs to do a re thinking on prices. Btw, there is a smokey pencil in their range too, which is priced at 525 or something.. :silly:

  9. thank you thank you very useful!

Im definitely trying out the dream matte powder.. wish they had more shades though.
You know when i saw the packaging of the new lakme products.. i thought the liner and mascara were in that plum colour.. that would have been more interesting πŸ™‚

I do like the revlon turquoise pencil but the price is a bit much much πŸ™

    1. Vidhya

I found them in H&G counters at Forum, Koramangla

      Forum Value, Whitefield

      Garuda Mall, Magrath Road

      Westside, Forum Mall, Koramangla

      Lifestyle, Oasis Center,Eejipura

I guess these should be available in all the other Maybelline counters across the city too, esp H&G.

  10. Hmmm…intersting…yeah the liners look pretty alright, but 480 rs is a bit too much, its like $10, hmm ive never been really happy with revlon liners, find them not pigmented enough.

  11. hehe , even I detest Revlon for their weird price range !
Btw I got the Maybelline gel liner and dream matte powder yesterday , surprisingly I didnt find the Maybelline eye studio pencil up to the par , but for 200 , its ok . I guess :)+

    1. Palak, yes Maybelline liners are good for their price. you can’t go gag ga over them. And don’t even dare to put the liner in your waterline, it stings very badly. πŸ™ I esp bought a white liner for my water line and now I am stuck with it. Just using it as an eyebrow highlighter once in a while.

  12. The liners look really nice ya – but 500 bucks?! for one?

I think Revlon is positioned as a high end brand in India and not as drug store, I find most of their products to be expensive – nothing is below 500 bucks..

    Maybelline is drugstore.

    1. They are in weird range. I have no clue who are they targeting and its not that all their products are excellent. They nail paints and nail paint remover are mediocre. The liquid lipstick sucked. And you know after paying such high prices and not getting quality products you tend to lose faith in the brand.

Maybelline surely is a drugstore. πŸ™‚
