Inglot Lipstick Shade #103 Review

By Ankita Bose

Hey everyone,

Very often we come across this question… ‘bold lips or bold eyes?’ Well, if u ask me I would straight away say BOLD LIPS any day.  Yes, I’m crazy about bold and beautiful lip shades. I feel that it’s really easy to transform one’s look with a bold statement lipcolor. Make up wise, I feel bold lips are easy to work with because with such shades we can keep the rest of the look pretty simple. This brings us to our today’s pick, Inglot lipstick in the shade 103 which I bought last year through an online shopping site.

My experience with Inglot Lipstick Shade #103:

Packaging:
The lipstick comes in the standard Inglot packaging which is, an outer matte, black cardboard box that holds all the information such as, the ingredients, date of mfg, expiry, etc. Once we open the outer packaging what lies inside is sheer delight. The bullet lies inside a black, glossy, metallic casing which screams class and sophistication. The brand logo is printed on the cap. The case locks very tightly and hence it can easily be tossed into our hand bags and carried along. The shade number is mentioned at the bottom of the case. The only downside of the packaging is that there are no shade indicators and thus it becomes mandate to remember the shade numbers.

Shade:
Inglot # 103 is a super bold, statement shade. It is a mix between red and orange, leaning more towards orange. It’s an apt shade for summers and would be a great pick for night outs. I feel it looks great on all Indian skintones, however I would suggest the dusky beauties and also the girls who shy away from bold shades in general to try it at the counter before taking the plunge because for some this shade could be uncomfortably bright. The shade adds an instant brightness to the face and one can make her entire look work around it. A clear flawless complexion and kohl rimmed eyes is all you need to sport this beauty.

Pigmentation:
The shade 103 is strongly pigmented and one swipe would give decent coverage to the lips. With two swipes we can achieve a strong orangey red pout. The color can be sheered down for casual outings and worn as a stain by blotting with a tissue.

Texture:
Texture wise I would call this lippie a creamy matte. It’s quite moisturising (thanks to the vitamin E and apricot kernel oil) and glides effortlessly on the lips, thereby eliminating the need of wearing a lipbalm underneath. It doesn’t emphasize the fine lines on the lips and rather gives a healthy, plump look to the pouts. Further, it doesn’t dry out the lips over a period of time and once removed the lips feel soft and moisturized.

Staying power:
Being a bold shade it lasts for a good 5 – 6 hours with only a slight fading as the hours pass by. It survives drinks and light snacks quite well and results in uniform fading. Even after a heavy meal the lippie leaves behind a soft red stain but reapplication is necessary to get the full blown colour. The only thing that I don’t like in this regard is that it transfers crazily to glasses and cups.

Smell:
The lipstick has an artificial fruity fragrance which is common to most of the Inglot lippies that I’ve tried. It doesn’t bother me but for some people this could end up being a bit nauseating because it lingers for quite sometime post application. So I would again suggest testing it at the counter and wearing it for sometime before buying.

Pros of Inglot Lipstick Shade #103:

  • Creamy formula which keeps the lips moisturised
  • Contains vitamin E and apricot kernel oil
  • Doesn’t emphasize fine lines
  • Good staying power
  • Leaves a soft red tint post meals thus ensuring that one is not left with bare lips.

  • Classy and sturdy metal case

Cons of Inglot Lipstick Shade #103:

  • Transfers easily to cups and glasses.
  • The fragrance could be bothersome for sensitive noses.
  • Being a bold shade it has chances of bleeding if lips are not lined properly.

IMBB Rating:
4.5/5. 0.5 deducted for being transfer prone.

I would totally recommend this shade to everyone who is in the lookout for a bold orangey red shade with a great staying power. This is a great shade for Indian skintones.

Would I repurchase Inglot Lipstick Shade #103?

  1. Love the shade Ankita, it’s very beautiful and flattering. And, also the fact that it doesn’t contain parabens.
