Inglot Matte Lipstick 411 Review

Price:

Rs. 680 for 4.5 grams.

Like I said, I will be reviewing all the goodies I bought from Inglot last weekend.  Well, not everything is as good as I had thought. I made a tiny goof up by picking up two matte lipsticks, Rs. 680 each. Instead, I should have picked up lip paint, refills, or those pencils.  This lipstick is a good lesson for matte lovers like me, “all that glitters err all that is shimmer-less can not be matte.” 😛

Matte Lipstick

When I went to the Inglot store, the first thing I asked for was matte lipsticks. The display had a gorgeous array of lipsticks, and a tiny column of matte lipsticks, hardly 10 of them. There were really less shades to chose from mattes.  The others had some kind of shimmer or fine glaze or something that I wouldn’t buy on my first trip to the store. Nevertheless, I picked up two matte lipsticks.  One of them is a soft fuchsia pink, not very dull, but neither too hot, and this one is a soft mauvy nude, absolutely blue-based nude mauve lipstick was my next pick.

Matte Lipstick

I would compare this shade very much to a very lighter version of Brique Rose from Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick.  Chambor Powder Matte lipsticks are the few best absolute matte yet-no-complaints lipsticks.  I want to compare these to them any day and in this review as well.

Mauve Lips

Mauve

The texture of this lipstick is not thick, its medium, and in fact I need to go back again and again with it.

Mauve Matte

The finish is absolute matte, a totally dry matte finish that even a matte lover like me would run away from. As and when this lipstick fades off, it does so evenly and meanwhile all the fine lines of the lips are visible like cracks. It’s very upsetting to feel a dry lipstick on the lips. I would say it made my lips dry, but the whole feel is too matte for me, plus this color worsens it.

Mauve Lips

The color is so blue based that it sucks the life out of my face. I think peachy nudes are my first preference but for a change I got this one with a mauve shade to it. I would say this lipstick will make a very nice nude for people who can carry blue-based lipsticks.

I need to swipe this lipstick too hard and too many times and as opposed to the Chambor Powder Matte lipsticks that are soft and thick in application and dry and set after it.  These feel dry and hard already in the tube.

This lipstick lasts easily for three or more hours and fades evenly and does not deposit on the lips like some mattes.  I would say it doesn’t even dry me out, but still it is made to be so matte that it can bother many.

Mauve Lips

Now, coming to the best part about these lipsticks that I like! I absolutely adore the heavy, sturdy metal packing of these lipsticks.  It takes the whole value of possessing this lipstick to another level. How many times do we come across such a classy, sturdy, metal packing for a lipstick, absolutely gorgeous!

Another thing that I am happy about is that I am going to use this color as a nice matte base to all my thinner and sheer lipsticks and the Inglot refill lipsticks as well so that they stay on well. This is a great base for my moisturising lipsticks.

Last Word on Inglot Matte Lipstick 411:

This is a lipstick so matte that it can be too matte for my taste as well. I prefer creamy mattes over such mattes. I would not like to recommend this lipstick and would choose Chambor Powder Matte over this any day.  I am going to use this shade as a very nice base to the other lipsticks, which I am very happy about. Having said that, I am looking forward to buying the non-matte range from Inglot.  Also, I really have fallen for the metal packaging which can be the one reason I would like to collect these lipsticks.

  2. yup its definitely quite matte! i have 218 from this range but that is not this matte..infact its creamy creamy in texture..strange how 2 lipsticks from same range can be so different! also i bought it for 500 bucks..not sure if they have increased their prices now? i truly love the classy black packaging though 🙂

  3. shade is nice bt indeed tooooooooooo matte…has a drying effect!!! would be nice if some gloss is swept on 🙂

  4. Hey Neha thats a real surprise! Like Parita mentioned, I also have a couple of lippies from their matte range and they are nowhere near as bad in texture or as drying. So weird!
Have you tried their lip paintsticks? The one I have is really nice.

  5. i purcvhased colorbar matte lipstick and my lips feel so dry after applying it
chambor is the best so far as far as matte lipsticks r concerned

  6. Packaging! Packaging!! WOW! 😀
Love the shade, but won’t suit my lips. They are unbelievably dry and imagine getting more dried, chapped, flaky lips. 😐

Neha, are you still an Avon rep? I stay in Chennai too and would like to get a couple of products! 🙂
