Innisfree Real Rose Mask Review

Skin Type: Normal to oily, acne-prone and sensitive (tends to get dry patches in winter)

Greetings everyone,

Last few weeks were somewhat mask weeks for me. I have tried out a few new face masks and couldn’t wait to share my views on them. Oh yes! I love using face masks more than anything. First thing first, to start off the thread of mask reviews, I would be sharing my views on the Innisfree real rose mask. It is from their new wash-off mask line, that launched a few months back. It is a heating, wash-off pack with the divine and sweet fragrance of roses.*Spoiler* I am in absolute love with this wash-off mask. Let’s get into the details about it.

How to Use:
After a facial wash, spread an adequate amount over a clean and dry face, away from the eyes and mouth. Massage for about 1~2 minutes as to feel the heat and after 10~15 minutes, rinse using lukewarm water. (Recommended use: 3-4 times a week)

My Experience with Innisfree Real Rose Mask:

Packaging: Innisfree real rose mask comes in a small, dark coloured tub with a silver screw lid. The container is classic in terms of display. But at the same time, tub packaging is unhygienic, especially a mask in tub packaging. Though a tub packaging is a con already, but not providing a spatula along with it is a sin. If someone notices the tub thoroughly, it will give an idea of being amber colored and glass-made. The material is very sturdy. It is very similar or I would say exactly like their pore clay mask. It is not at all heavy to carry, hence, can be aptly termed travel-friendly. When you open the screw lid, there is an another thin, transparent lid over the brim to prevent any spillage. Further, the mask has an outer cardboard packaging in beautiful pink and beige color. All the necessary information is written over the cardboard box and glass tub in both Korean and English.

Texture: The mask is jelly-like, but does not jiggle. When I scoop out the mask from the tub, I get the feeling of touching something jelly-like. The mask has very thick consistency and sticky gel type of texture. The sticky texture is definitely because of the higher concentration of glycerin, and it can be seen in the image where I have pressed the mask between my fingers and then opened them. As it can be noticed on the ingredient list, the concentration of glycerin has left water behind. There are a few chunks present in the mask that almost feel like pulp. As Innisfree hasn’t mentioned it, I don’t know what they are.

Fragrance: The fragrance is to die for. It is divine, pleasant and what not. This invigorating fragrance is definitely a treat for rose lovers. I don’t have to wait for the fragrance. It hits my nose as soon as I remove the transparent lid from it. The mask looks completely brownish in the tub, but when taken, it has a tint of it only.

Usage/Results: As the directions to use say, I apply an adequate amount over the face, massage for 1-2 minutes, leave it for the next 30 minutes and then rinse off with normal water. Though it is mentioned to rinse with lukewarm water, I don’t. There is only one reason why I don’t use lukewarm water; it puts me off to wait for anything and it is quite a work for me to switch on the geyser and wait for the lukewarm water to wash off my face. Even with the normal water, it gets rinsed off easily.

Now, let get into the details of each step performed when using this mask. The application process is a little messy. It is easy to use a sticky mask through a tube, but not a tub. Firstly, you have to scoop out an approximate amount at once to avoid contamination and in this process, your palm and fingers gets sticky and messy. Nonetheless, the mask spreads easily and there is no tugging or pulling of the skin.

After applying the mask, it has to be massaged for 1-2 minutes. Now, this is the interesting and most loving phase. I get to massage a jelly-like mask over the skin for a minute at least. As soon as I start the massage, the mask also starts to melt. It does not turn into any liquid, but the texture softens a bit. The soft texture helps in smoother movement of the mask over the skin while massaging, so that, there is no tugging. Within a few seconds of massaging, the mask starts providing a nice warming sensation to the skin; warming not heating. The warmth feels extremely comfortable. So, I carry on the massaging for nearly two minutes. The mask loses its warmth after a couple of minutes of massaging. It does not feel cool, but something at room temperature and it remains like that for the whole time. One more thing, while massaging, the mask turns into white lathers; just like a cleansing foam will lather without water, exactly same. The white lathers are not dense and turn into original form after a few minutes of massage.

After leaving it for the next 20 minutes, I rinse it off with normal water. One thing to note- the rinsing of this mask will take less time with lukewarm water when compared to normal water. However, the time difference, when I tried, is just a few seconds *grin*. It is initially a bit slippery, but gets rinsed off with normal water with a few splashes.

Post rinsing, the skin has oh my God phase- super radiant and super moisturized. Every dry patch is intensely moisturized and nourished like they were never there before. To make it sound better, the mask makes my skin baby soft. My mum even complimented me that my skin is looking like a baby’s skin. Though, I have used the mask almost like 24 hours ago and she didn’t even know about it. There is a glow on my face along with twinkling eyes and teeth to teeth smile *hehe*. Yeah, who wouldn’t be drooling over having baby soft glowing skin? With such moisturizing properties, this mask is perfect to use before applying makeup. It makes the skin super smooth and vanishes the pores for good hours. If wearing the makeup for a short time, I don’t even need a primer. It does not make the skin more or less oily, but there is a perfect balance of moisture. However, I think it may not be best suited for extremely oily skin.

I use this mask according to the need of my skin. If my skin needs moisture I use it, otherwise not. But, now a days, my skin is in constant need of moisture. So, I use it thrice a week.
