Innisfree Tapping Lip Concealer Review

Skin Type: Combination

Hi guys,

Today, I will be reviewing a makeup product from Innisfree – the Tapping Lip Concealer. Innisfree has unique makeup products and I couldn’t wait to try this one. A lip concealer is designed to lighten the lips and show the true colour of the lipstick, which often does not turn up on pigmented lips. Read on to know whether this Tapping Lip Concealer worked for me or not.

INR 350 for 3.5 gm.
Product Description:
A lip concealer that helps tone down your natural lip colour, by dabbing lips gently with a fingertip before applying makeup. It smoothes down the lip colour and helps create vivid colour on the lips.

It contains macadamia seed oil, camellia seed oil, shea butter, olive oil, jojoba seed oil for retaining the moisture in the lips.

How To Use:
Before lip makeup, apply on the lips by lightly tapping with fingers.

My Experience with Innisfree Tapping Lip Concealer:

The concealer comes in a small tub, which is travel friendly and leak proof. The cap is off white in colour whereas the tub is dark brown. This concealer comes in a single shade. The shade is a peach colour, which I believe will suit all skin tones. The consistency of the concealer seems quite thick at first, but when I swatched it at the store, it was not very opaque. Rather, it is quite oily and translucent, on account of the different oils present. The consistency is nowhere close to a normal face concealer. It doesn’t have a particular fragrance, it has the typical chemical smell of foundation. It does not claim to make the lip colour last longer.

I wear a n*de lipstick on a daily basis, and when I saw this product in the store, I was intrigued. My lips are quite dark, thin and pigmented. I drink tea twice a day, and that seems to be a major contributor to the darkening of my lips as well as the fact that I use dark lipsticks every day. I felt this product would work well for me. I often use honey masks to treat my pigmented lips as a measure of treatment. It also contains SPF, so I don’t need a separate lip product with SPF. I apply this is as directed, using my fingers. Using a brush might pick up extra product, but would be more hygienic.

Coming to the actual results of the product – on application, this concealer looks white on my pigmented lips. I always make sure to scrub my lips gently before application, otherwise, it settles into the fine lines on my lips and enhances their appearance. It has a slight glossy finish, which goes away after a few minutes. Moisturizing lips is important if you have dry lips. This product seems to work better for liquid lipsticks. This product seems to work better for showing the lighter shades on lips. Overall, I am satisfied with this product as it will help in prevention of pigmentation.

Pros of Innisfree Tapping Lip Concealer:

  • Contains natural oils.
  • Conceals lips well.
  • Contains SPF.
  • Product will last a long time.

Cons of Innisfree Tapping Lip Concealer:

  • May dry out lips.
  • May enhance dry, chapped lips.
  • Method of application not hygienic.
  • Does not substitute lip balm.
  • Availability might be an issue.

IMBB Rating:
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Innisfree Tapping Lip Concealer?
As of now, I’m still trying to see whether it will markedly help in prevention of the pigmentation on my lips, which is my primary concern. It does its job of concealing, but the lips need to be prepped before usage. They have to be scrubbed and moisturized. It also seems to conceal liquid lipsticks better. I would recommend people with very pigmented lips to try it at the store.
