The Jewellery Box

With the wedding season in full swing, you must make a list of some classic must-haves that will last you through it all.

Must-have #1

Diamond Earring, Diamond Jewellery, Diamonds

Jhumkas: The classic jhumkas can never go out of style. Available in various sizes and styles, pick one that suits your face the best.
How to wear it: For a heavier face it is advisable to wear jhumkas that are wider at the bottom while long necks carry off slim jhumkas well. Wear your jhumkas with saris, sherwanis or the patiala salwar. While wearing jhumkas, make sure you don’t wear anything in the neck. Gold jhumkas with stones in red, green, blue and pink are the most wearable for wedding occasions.

Must-have #2:

Chunky bracelet:
A thick bracelet is the best way to accessorise an Indian or Indo-western outfit. Semi precious stones, Swarovski stones, kundan, meenakari and jadau are always in style for the wedding season.

How to wear it: If you have thin wrists then thick bracelets will suit you better. For those with thicker wrists, wearing slightly more delicate bracelets is a good option. While wearing a statement bracelet, remember to not overload with rings, instead wearing a classic watch on the other hand or leaving it bear is the best thing to do.

Must-have #3:

Diamonds Rings, Diamond Engagement Rings, Diamonds

Cocktail ring: An oversized ring makes for a great accessory with Indo western outfits, sherwanis and full sleeve styles. Animal figurines, coloured stones and classic floral designs are always in vogue. How to wear it: Most people tend to use only their ring finger for rings but oversized cocktail rings look best on your index or middle finger, so change it up. When wearing a big ring, make sure you’re not wearing a kada, watch or any other accessory on your wrist.

Must-have #4:

A statement neck-piece:
A long neck-piece or a bib necklace make the perfect accompaniment to the Indian attire. Stones, pearls, small paintings and antique designs are best suited to the wedding parties. How to wear it: When you wear a statement neck-piece, you must keep everything else simple. For instance, wear simple studs or solitaires for earrings and only a ring or bracelet to complete the look. Longer necklaces make your neck look long and make you appear taller. Choker and bib styles are more suited to thinner frames.

Must-have #5:

Pearls: With gold, silver and diamonds doing the bling rounds, play a different card and with some understated pearl jewellery. Paired with heavy wedding clothes, pearls look elegant and stand out from the crowd as well.

Pearl Earrings, Pearl Studs, Pearl Jewellery

How to wear it: Stick to simple studs paired with bangles or simply sport an oversized necklace to keep the look effective. Pearls teamed with marquisette or black pearls can take your look to another level.
