John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Repairing Conditioner Review

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Repairing Conditioner

Good hair products have always eluded me somehow. My hair is dry, unmanageable and quite frizzy and it becomes all the worse during the humid summer and monsoon months. This is why I am always on the lookout for hair products that would help me tame my hair and repair it at the same time. I was hunting for a good hair conditioner when I came across the John Frieda range on Urbantouch. The range has various conditioners for various purposes including those for coloured hair. However, the one I chose was the John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Conditioner – Repairing. The reasons for which I selected this one was because the packaging of the product looked very professional and because of the word ‘Repairing’!! I desperately needed to use a conditioner that protected my hair while conditioning.

My Experience:
The product comes in a large translucent tube and it is quite heavy and the size of the product makes it a little difficult to wield it while one is in the shower. The tube is not entirely transparent but when you hold it against the light you can make out how much of the product has been used. The conditioner itself is white in colour and very thick and creamy in texture. The conditioner has a strong yet fragrant smell similar to the smell one experiences after a salon treatment. It has a dense texture and hence you do not need too much of the product at a time. The conditioner is also slightly sticky although it is very easy to apply on the hair. I have hair that falls just a little below my shoulders and I need about two squeezes of the tube during each wash. The conditioner lasts a long time and is therefore not that expensive.

I have been using this conditioner for last 4 months and it is not a bad product. I myself am not too excited about this conditioner mainly because I have not seen any substantial changes or betterment. The positive aspects of the conditioner are that it does make the hair softer and more nourished after washing. However, the effect does not last long. My hair returns to being frizzy in about a couple of days. However, if the humidity had a smaller role to play I suppose the conditioner would work better.

In terms of the claims of the conditioner regarding mending and blocking frizz, the hair remains soft and almost frizz free on the day of shampooing and conditioning but gradually starts to lose the effects in about a day. Also, there is no real long term transformation of the hair in terms of gradual reduction in frizz and hair damage overall. I also need to make sure that I wash the creamy conditioner thoroughly from my hair because it will leave residue. It does take some time because the product is quite dense. The conditioner would probably work much better for those who do not have as damaged hair as I do.

  1. i used this conditioner sometime back. But was travelling in between and hence used dove during that time (for 3-4 washes). John Frieda makes your hair soft while you use it but when you stop using this, it makes your hair drier than ever. No other conditioner could tame my hair. I have super curly hair and now I’ve shifted to curly girl’s method of cowashing with a non silicon based conditioner. it has definetly made my hair much more manageable.
