Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo Review

Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo Review

Hey Ladies,

Hope you people had a great Easter. I love celebrations while my hubby is aloof from the mere mention of festivals and celebrations, but since the time my daughter is born, I have found another reason to celebrate. In a place like Diglipur in Andamans, festivals and celebrations are one of the few ways to keep one going. So, this weekend I did some Easter things.  I made a mango cupcake with vanilla icing cream and used an old (but extremely dear) T-shirt and made a tote bag from it. I will do a post on this T-shirt thing later on. For now, you gorge on this cupcake.

Johnson's Nizral Shampoo

Johnson's Nizral Shampoo Reviews

This review might be of great help to women (or men) who have regular dandruff issue.  I never had dandruff until college, but when I went to work, it settled in my hair so well that it has never left me, but thanks to Nizral, my dandruff condition is better.

This is a medicated shampoo and was recommended to me by a trichologist. I immediately used it and I have been using it on and off for more than 5-6 years now.

Price:

Rs. 181 for 50 ml.

Ingredients:

Not mentioned but it contains Ketoconazole solution.

Product Description:

Effective treatment for dandruff, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis and Pityriasis Versicolor.

Nizral

My Take on Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo:

We all know that ketoconazole is used to treat dandruff and other scalp problems. So, this shampoo contains ketoconazole, which means it would be effective in treating dandruff and surely it does treat dandruff.  This shampoo is very strong, so one must use it in very little quantity and mix it with any regular shampoo, that is how I use it.

If you use it as a stand-alone shampoo, chances are there that you may lose your hair the same day! So, just keep this in mind and use it as little as possible (maybe equivalent to a teaspoon, the quantity of course depends on the length of your hair) and mix it with some other shampoo. Apply the shampoo to hair and keep it on the hair for some time. I usually keep it for about 2-3 minutes. While I have shampoo in my hair, I scrub or wash my feet, etc. Then, I rinse it off. Mind you, rinse it off very well.

Nizral

The shampoo has been very effective for treating dandruff, I use it in courses. You can notice the difference from the first wash itself. By the time you finish one bottle, your dandruff problem would have most likely got resolved.  Take a break and stop using Nizral. When you see dandruff recurring, take out another bottle and start using.

In the beginning, I lost a lot of hair by using this shampoo, but now that I have learnt (and taught you guys as well), the correct way of using it, I must say it does much more good than harm.  I regularly use it and it mostly keeps my dandruff problem at bay.

Pros of Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo:

  • Treats dandruff.
  • You can notice the difference from the first wash itself.
  • Cleans scalp well.
  • Needs to be used very little, so one bottle lasts for 2-3 months.

Cons of Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo:

  • May cause hair fall as it is quite strong, but that is why I suggest to use it in conjunction with another mild shampoo.
Tip:
Use it in a little quantity with some other shampoo. Keep it on hair for about 2 minutes but not for a long time. Rinse off very well.

Will I Repurchase Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo?

Yes, I have been using it for more than 5 years.

Do I Recommend Johnson’s Nizral Shampoo?

I recommend it to everybody who has major dandruff or scalp problem.

@ Dandruff…I do get it on & off..tried one shampoo & one solution to be applied at night as suggested by doc…but they were making my hair broomy-rough. So said Tata-Bye Bye to ’em & started DIY. Methi seeds soaked in curd & ground to paste next day did the trick..Few applications & I got rid of Dandruff completely.. :pigtail:

    1. Shilpa, I too have on and off dandruff, and I will try this as Surabhi has given such a good review. I usually use Head and shoulders shampoo when I have dandruff, but I find that;s a bit strong for me….but Shilpa….you are such a precious encyclopedia of DIY stuff….. :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho:

      1. Sumhow I am scared of All Anti-Dandruff shampoos..My bro is using all of ’em in rotation since many yrs & his 70% hair turned grey by now…which can be result of his stressful professional life/genetic issues as my dad got grey hair early too. But have heard frm other frnds too..that their hair is turning grey faster due to these shampoos.. :haanji: I think..Anti-Dandruff shampoos are strong & harsh to strip grease & oil frm scalp which is causing dandruff & greying ‘can be’ side effect of those strong chemicals. Just My Thoughts.. 🙂

  9. i personally like the loreal dandruff shampoo and i find it quite mild. But yeah if one has severe dandruff problem this one sounds pretty awesome for that. 🙂

    the cupcake looks yum! 🙂

  10. Good review Surabhi…This shampoo is effective for dandruff…But its not recommended for continuous usage..

Nizral is a very strong shampoo..It might not work for everyone, it can be very harsh on the scalp too…@ Surabhi…good that it hasn’t created any problem for you..
Nizral Shampoo (Ketoconazole) is typically prescribed to be used twice weekly for 2-4 weeks.
Once you notice an improvement in symptoms, you should use it once every one to two months to prevent a relapse. To apply the shampoo, rub it into wet hair and the scalp allowing it to soak for 3-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

It is not prescribed long term…You can consult any doctor and ask him, Because I have personally experienced it…
