My Experience with Jordana Brow and Eye Shadow Powder – Brunette:

I came across this product from Jordana some time back and really enjoy using it. I was on the lookout for a cool-toned matte brown eye shadow for some time.  I do have a matte brown shadow from Inglot, but it has some red undertones to it.  The fact that this serves a dual purpose is even better.  Ever since I have started filling my brows, it has become an important step as I love the look of dark brows.  I naturally have medium thick brows, but I still do not skip filling brows as I love the look of bold eyebrows. Before this, I have used Inglot brow powder, but unfortunately, I had picked up a wrong shade and it was slightly lighter for me.

This product comes in a simple and tiny silver pot packaging with a screw up lid. The packaging is otherwise very sturdy but I would have loved a flip cap as one can misplace the screw up lid easily 😛 This particular shade “Brunette” is the darkest shade and it a grey based dark brown, almost black brown, it is completely matte. This is a cool-toned shade and hence looks very natural when used for filling brows. The color comes quite close to MAC’s Espresso, maybe a tad bit darker. The color will be suitable for most Indian skin tones, it is exactly a shade lighter than my natural brow color, and hence looks very natural and not at all stark when used for brows. The other 5 lighter shades can be great matte neutral eye shadows as well.

Jordana brow powder

The color is very versatile, it can be used as an eye shadow to create a smokey eye or only in the crease and also as a liner or to smudge black eyeliner with the help of an angled brush and of course as a brow powder 😛 The texture is buttery smooth, quite soft and has barely any fallout.  Due to the soft texture; it is not at all chalky and blends well. I am simply amazed by the quality; I never knew Jordana makes such great eye shadows. It is extremely pigmented, and one has to use it with a light hand as a little goes a long way with this one. I barely need to touch the pan while filling in brows and the crease, hence there is no powdery look with it. One can easily go overboard though.  On the brows, it stays for the whole day until I remove, does not come off with water and I have to remove with a makeup remover at the end of the day.  On my eyes, it stays well for 5 hours after which it starts creasing and fading without a primer as I have quite oily eye lids. When using as an eye shadow, a primer underneath it does intensify the color and makes it last longer. I have used a primer underneath on the left side.

Overall, this is a great multipurpose product which works very well both ways.

  1. Nice review Dhara, I use Inglot’s brow powder but it doesn’t lasts more than 2 hours. Do you think it will work for me.
