Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Bare Review

I am back with a lipstick review from the Jordana Modern Matte collection. I have already reviewed one shade from this range – 10 Pretty and I was not too pleased with it. I had picked up one more shade along with it and today I am reviewing that shade – 01 Bare. Read on to find out if this shade fared any better.

My Experience with Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Bare:

Packaging: The lipstick comes in a sleek packaging with a clear cap. The clear cap makes it easy to see the actual color of the lipstick. The color of the bottom half of the packaging matches that of the lipstick which helps telling the lipsticks apart if you have more than one of them. I found the packaging a bit flimsy and I can see the plastic cap coming off loose in near future. Also, the print on the packaging looks a bit cheap.

Shade: Shade 01 Bare looks like a peachy rosy shade in the bullet. I am always on the lookout for MLBB type of shades as they are perfect for office wear. And I am so glad that this shade fits the bill perfectly. It looks a beautiful light rosy pink on the lips – nothing too garish or nothing too pale. Just perfect.

Texture, Finish, Pigmentation: The texture of the lipstick is just about okay. It does feel creamy on the lips, but you still need to apply a little effort to cover your lips. It surely does not glide like some other cream lipsticks do. It might not fare well on dry lips and I would recommend exfoliating your lips if you plan to use one. Better still, apply a lip balm underneath. The finish is not traditional matte. It is somewhere in between matte and crème and has a slight sheen to it. This finish actually looks nice and does not give the impression of dry lips.

Shade 01 Bare is a decently pigmented shade and it covered my pigmented lips in single swipe. The staying power of the lipstick is quite average. It stays put for around 3 hours before it starts to fade away. It does not flake and fades pretty evenly. But it surely does not survive meals.

Here I would like to mention that it fares much better than the shade 10 Pretty from the same collection. I was earlier very disappointed with that shade and thought the entire collection must be a dud. But, it seems like the texture varies from lipstick to lipstick from the same collection.

To summarize, the Jordana Modern Matte lipstick in shade “Bare” is a fair lipstick to have at under 3 dollars.

Beautiful MLBB shade.
Decently pigmented.
Gives a nice matte-crème finish.
Inexpensive.

Cons of Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Bare:

Lipstick might be drying for some.
Stays put only for around 3 hours.
Packaging is flimsy.

Would I Repurchase Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Bare?

Yes, for under 3 dollars, this is a fair lipstick to possess especially, the shade would be a lovely MLBB for some of you. I possess 2 shades from this collection and wouldn’t repurchase or purchase any other shades as overall this collection is not too impressive.
